Soon after introducing the Eluga A4 battery-centric smartphone in India, Japanese electronics giant Panasonic on Thursday added a new budget-oriented smartphone, called the “Panasonic Eluga I5” to its Eluga smartphone series. The Panasonic Eluga I5 is a new member of company’s popular Eluga series that we have seen the recently launched Eluga I4 model with fingerprint sensor, 4G VoLTE and Arbo virtual assistant support and now the Panasonic Eluga I5 can be considered as a toned-down version of the Panasonic Eluga I4. As the Japanese vendor promised earlier, it would be launching about 15 smartphones for the Indian market in this current year and all of them would be priced under Rs. 15,000. However, the company has kept its promise as the Panasonic Eluga I5 has been launched in India with a price tag of Rs. 6,499.

Carried a such an attractive price tag, the Panasonic Eluga I5 is now already made available for purchase in India exclusively via e-commerce website Flipkart.com in Black and Gold colour options. The main highlights of the smartphone are its 13MP rear-facing camera, 2.5D curved Asahi Dragon Trail Glass protected 5-inch HD display and fingerprint sensor.

As far as specifications are concerned, the Panasonic Eluga I5 sports a 5-inch HD IPS display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a scratch resistant 2.5D curved Asahi DragonTrail glass protection on top. In terms of power and performance, the smartphone is powered by a 1.25GHz MediaTek MT6737 quad-core processor paired with Mali-T720 GPU to take care of graphics. In terms of memory, the Panasonic Eluga I5 comes loaded with a 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. On the software front (OS), the handset runs on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box. Apart from this, the Eluga I5 comes with a full-metal unibody design and features a rear-mounted fingerprint recognition button for the biometric authentication process.

In terms of optics, the Panasonic Eluga I5 features a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, 5P lens, an f/2.2 aperture, and an LED flash module. On the front, the smartphone features a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with 3P lens for making video calls and capturing selfies. The rear camera also supports various modes like HDR, Face Beauty, and Panoramic.

On the connectivity front, the Panasonic Eluga I5 supports various connectivity options, which include dual-SIM dual standby using (Hybrid dual-SIM slot), 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, FM Radio, USB OTG, a 3.5mm audio jack and a microUSB 2.0 port for charging and other connectivity. Sensors on the smartphone include an Accelerometer, Proximity Sensor, Ambient Light Sensor, and Fingerprint Sensor (rear-mounted). On the battery front, the Panasonic Eluga I5 is fuelled by a decent 2,500mAh battery. Dimensionally, the Panasonic Eluga I5 measures 143 x 71 x 7.5mm and measures 145.5 grams.
