After a series of many leaks and revelations, now it seems like that the Japanese electronics company Sharp Corporation is all set to introduce its much-awaited premium flagship smartphone, “Aquos S2” in the Chinese tech market on Tuesday, August 8, 2017. The company has already started sending out “save the date” media invites for its upcoming premium smartphone launch event next week, which is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, August 8 at the company’s global launch event in Beijing, China. At the event, Sharp will be announcing the pricing details and availability of its premium bezel-less smartphone, the Sharp Aquos S2.
However, there are many leaks and rumours about the Sharp Aquos S2 have been surfaced on several websites from the last couple of months. The Sharp Aquos S2 has been subjected to multiple leaks ahead of its official debut which does reveal a gist of all the specifications and features about the upcoming full-screen smartphone. If the emerging reports are to be believed, the Sharp Aquos S2 would see a significant overhaul in terms of specifications and arrive with a host of improvements in both hardware and software specs. The main highlights of the device will be its 5.5-inch 4K bezel-less screen display, dual rear camera setup and under-glass fingerprint sensor.
The company claims that the Aquos S2 uses FFD (Free Form Display) technology that enables the manufacturer to make small holes precisely into the screen for front camera and receiver to offer great user experience of best audio quality and front camera experience. This FFD technology will take the screen-to-body ratio of the Sharp Aquos S2 to 84.95 percent. Due to its screen-to-body ratio, the 5.5-inch display panel on the device feels like a 5-inch body.
“The core of full-screen design is to break through the technology limit, achieve the double sense of holding and visual comfort, and provide the ultimate experience for users,” said Dr Luo Zhongsheng, CEO of SHARP/InFocus Mobile.
Recently, the Sharp Aquos S2 was spotted on a Chinese micro-blogging platform called Weibo, which does reveal a gist of specifications and features about the upcoming bezel-less smartphone. As per Weibo listing, the Sharp Aquos S2 will have a 5.5-inch Ultra-HD 4K display with a screen resolution of 2160 x 3840 pixels. Under the hood, the device is expected to be powered by a 64 bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 octa-core processor. There is also a possibility that the device may draw its power from a 64 bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor. In terms of memory, the Sharp Aquos S2 is supposed to come in two variants based on their RAM and internal storage capacity and configuration: 4GB RAM with 64GB native storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB native storage. On the software front, the Sharp Aquos S2 will run on Google’s latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system. It is also said to come with an in-display/under-glass/on-screen fingerprint sensor for biometric security.
In terms of photography, the Sharp Aquos S2 is expected to sport a vertically arranged dual rear camera setup consisting of two 12-megapixel sensors with an LED flash. On the front, it will sport an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter for capturing selfies and making video calls.
