To recall, Japanese electronics giant Sony Corporation had launched their PS4 Slim Gold and Silver limited edition gaming consoles in the US and Europe earlier this year. Now, Sony on Monday officially announced the launch of its limited edition PS4 Slim Gold and Silver variants in the Indian gaming market. Both the variants have been launched in the country with a price tag of Rs. 32,990 and a storage capacity of 500GB. Carried a such an attractive price tag, the PS4 Slim Gold and Silver consoles will be available in limited numbers only, just like the Glacier White PS4 Slim model. Interestingly, you can also get an additional wireless controller that matches the colour of the console you choose. These gaming consoles will be made available for purchase in India exclusively via company’s offline retail store — Sony Centres. They won’t be available for purchase through e-commerce websites like Amazon India, Flipkart.com, or any other online retailer.
As the name suggests, the special edition PS4 is slimmer in overall design and is an upgraded version of the company’s PS4 models. Unfortunately, the PS4 Slim limited edition doesn’t offer any bundled games other than its unique colour. It’s quite surprising and unusual as the Japanese vendor usually offers few games with the console. The standard Jet Black PlayStation 4 Slim 500 GB model which is priced at Rs. 27,699 (Amazon and Flipkart) comes with titles like Horizon Zero Dawn, Ratchet and Clank, Driveclub, and a three-month subscription to Sony’s PS Plus service. This is the second time Sony India has released the new generation PlayStation 4 in a unique colour. Earlier the company has also introduced a Glacier White PS4 Slim console.
Technically speaking, the new-generation Sony PS4 Slim limited edition supports features like 4K and High Dynamic Range (HDR) that offers richer and more luminous colours for a stunning visual experience in games. The high dynamic range technology improves the colour reproduction on TV sets and offers more brightness. Apart from this, the upgraded console is now more energy efficient and comes with a wireless controller. Under the hood, the gaming console is powered by a custom 8-core AMD Jaguar processor coupled with the 1.84 TFLOPS GPU, AMD Radeon based graphics engine. In terms of memory, the Sony PS4 Slim limited edition console comes loaded with a 500 GB HDD internal storage. In terms of connectivity, the special edition PS4 Slim offers various connectivity options including two USB 3.1 ports, Ethernet port for wired connection, Bluetooth v4.1 LE, an AUX port, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, and an HDMI port for AV output.
