After launching the flagship Xperia XZ Premium smartphone in India last month, Japanese smartphone maker Sony on Thursday expanded its Xperia X series smartphone portfolio with the launch of a new mid-range device, called the “Xperia XA1 Ultra” in the Indian tech market. Priced at Rs. 29,990, the new Xperia XA1 Ultra is already now made available for purchase via company’s offline store, Sony Centres and all leading electronic stores across the country in Black, White, and Gold colour options. Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra is the successor to the company’s previous Xperia XA Ultra smartphone, which was launched in India in July last year.

If you don’t remember, the Japanese company launched their high mid-ranged XA1 Ultra smartphone back in February at MWC 2017 event in Barcelona along with company’s another mid-range Xperia XA1 and two flagship models, Xperia XZ Premium and Xperia XZs. Among these four smartphones, the Xperia XZ Premium has already made its debut on the Indian tech market a month ago and the phone is now retailing in India with a price tag of Rs. 59,990. The key highlights of the Xperia XA1 are its stunning 6-inch full-HD display, borderless design, 23MP primary camera, 16MP front camera, and a powerful octa-core processor.

As part of an introductory offer, Sony is giving a Quick Charger UCH12 worth Rs. 1,490 for free on the purchase of the Xperia XA1 Ultra smartphone. The Quick Charger comes bundled in the retail box. Apart from this, interested customers can also avail an additional benefit of Rs 1,000 on the purchase of XA1 Ultra with Style Cover Stand (original price Rs. 3,490). Further, the latest mid-range smartphone comes bundled with a 3-month subscription to Sony LIV worth Rs. 349 for free.

As far as specifications are concerned, the Xperia XA1 Ultra sports a large 6-inch Full HD resolution (1080×1920 pixels) display with a pixel density of 367 ppi and a borderless edge-to-edge design with Image Enhance Technology. The display is also protected by the scratch resistance Corning Gorilla Glass. The Xperia XA1 Ultra is powered by a 64-bit MediaTek 6757 Helio P20 octa-core (quad-core 2.3GHz + quad-core 1.6GHz) processor with Mali T880 MP2 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the device is backed up by a 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card. Talking about its software front, the Xperia XA1 Ultra runs company’s proprietary Custom UI skin on the top, based on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.

In terms of optics, the Xperia XA1 Ultra sports a 23-megapixel 1/2.3” type Exmor RS rear camera unit with hybrid autofocus, 5x Clear Image Zoom, ISO 6400 support, SteadyShot and a 24mm wide-angle f/2.0 lens. On the front, there is a 16-megapixel front-facing shooter with 1/2.6” Exmor R sensor, a 23mm wide-angle f/2.0 lens, autofocus, OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation), and smart selfie flash. On the Xperia XA1 Ultra, you will be able to click a selfie moment by simply waving at the camera, with the “Hand Shutter” feature.

In terms of connectivity, the device Xperia XA1 Ultra is a dual-SIM smartphone that accepts two Nano-SIM cards. Connectivity options on the device also include 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS, Google Cast, NFC, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a USB Type-C port for super-fast charging and data transfer. On the battery front, the Sony XA1 Ultra packs a non-removable Li-Ion 2700mAh battery and supports Qnovo Adaptive fast charging tech and Pump Express+ 2.0 (It’s a fastest battery charging technology by MediaTek). Dimension wise, the handset measures 165 x 79 x 8.1mm and weighs 188 grams.
