Spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Jayant Yadhav helped India chalk up a massive 246-run win over the English team in the second test in Visakhapatnam. India now leads 1-0 in the five-match series.
England was bowled out for 158 runs in the second innings. The morning session saw England going down from 87 for 2 to 142 for 7. The post lunch session saw the tail not even attempting a tame twitch and England crumbled to 158 for all out. Only John Bairstow showed any real resistance with 34 not out.
The spinners more than did the job for India but clearly the biggest difference between the two sides was the Man of the Match, Virat Kohli. His aggregate of 248-runs single-handedly piled on the runs for England to follow.
Even though England was chasing a good target of 405 for a victory, post-lunch the entire team was bowled out for 158 runs, leading to India’s great victory.
The pitch provided enough bounce for the spinners on both ends. Ravindra Jadeja picked up the wicket of England’s Moeen Ali when a ball bounced a bit too much and an inside edge from Ali’s bat landed in the safe hands of Virat Kohli, who took the catch.
The teams will be travelling to Mohali where the third test of the five-test series will begin from November 26.
