The big screen film Tubelight loosely based on the Indo- China conflict in 1970 is falling flat with movie critics. Written, directed by Kabir Khan and produced by Salman the film has hit the theatres today and many of the critics have slammed the picture with far-from-stellar reviews. Despite the film having bad reviews, the industry is a hundred percent sure that the film will collect more than Rs 25 crore on the opening day itself. It may be noted that Salman Khan’s past few Eid releases did exceptionally well.

Salman’s earlier films released ahead of Eid collected promisingly very well on an opening day. The figure we provide here includes Sultan ( Rs 36.54 crore), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Rs 27.25 crore), Kick (Rs 26.4 crore) and Ek Tha Tiger (Rs 32.93 crore).  Due to Eid’s release, Salman’s appealing films always continues to thrive for longer periods with less competition, as well as fill in months often saddled with minor product. Hence, Salman Khan’s films have given theater owners what they want.

Everyone is hoping that Salman Khan’s fans will definitely see the film whatever may the reviews be. We will have to wait and see when the final box office tallies are in.

Salman’s career graph is the kind of stuff you would normally associate with fairy-tales success. He is today certainly better-looking actors around in today’s period.  He is also one of the most nuanced performers and certainly a very talented box-office survivor of Bollywood today. Above all, Shah Rukh Khan too has a cameo part in the film. Hence this will pull even SRK’s fan into theatres. Will this itself not be a double bonanza?  Will Tubelight then really light up the screen in Eid like previous Kabir Khan’s  films?
