Chris Pine as Steve Trevor along with Gal Gadot, in this year's Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman is the only DC movie to shine brightly like a rising star, with every major feat accomplished by it. Whether it be brilliant reviews, big box-office collections and a huge impact on the audience-adding to it the Oscar prospects! Now that Justice League has (basically) proved to be a dud at the box-office as well as on review charts too, it has become much-much important for DC to not only save its crumbling Extended Universe but leave a good impression too, with 2019’s Wonder Woman sequel.

And now that its known to all that, Patty Jenkins will remain the director for the next installment too, depicting the next phase for the Amazonian Princess, we can expect many things.

Recently, talking to Variety’s Kristopher Tapley, appearing on Playback podcast, Jenkins did tease the Wonder Woman 2 story, regarding a fresh, new story for the Amazonian warrior!

“It’s really still going to other values of hers, and a similar formula insofar as making a great, enjoyable fun movie but that ultimately in its third act turns some very big issues, and a very big experience that will aim to have slightly more weight and profundity than it has to have. Because that’s a formula that I really like, and I like the idea of taking somebody on a very solid, great journey but that arrives at a bigger question being answered. So it’s like that but because she is Wonder Woman and she’s here now and she’s fully developed, it’s got great fun from the start and great big superhero presence from the start, and is funny and a great love story again and a couple new unbelievable characters who I’m so excited about, who are very different than were in the last movie.”

When it comes to a new love interest, it seems that Steve would be or can be replaced by a new character, named, Trevor Barnes, a black, long-haired United Nations employee, who is so different in many aspects, from Steve Trevor. But who will be the actual man for Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman in the sequel, is yet to be seen.

When being asked about the thematic aspects of the next Wonder Woman movie (since the Gal Gadot starrer film of this year was also a thematic visual-entertaining beauty), Jenkins answered:

“I did very much thematically want to get to love [in Wonder Woman 1], because that’s what she stands for, and the complexity of what we’re facing. That was the thing, is like the journey of a character through our world who believes in good and evil—as we all do—facing a world ultimately that ends up showing you how unbelievably complicated it is to tackle that or conquer that in any black and white terms. And therefore how much love that requires to stay struggling to make this world a better place versus choosing hate and joining the fight that perpetuates it.”

Yet to be directed by one and only Jenkins, Wonder Woman 2 has been announced to release on November 1st, 2017.
