If you are planning to buy a Xiaomi-branded smartphone with huge display and excellent battery life, and you have a budget of up to 14,000, then it’s a good news for you as the Xiaomi’s next-generation big-screen smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has received a permanent price cut in India. Ahead of the launch of its new selfie-centric smartphone series in India, Chinese electronics giant Xiaomi has slashed the price of its super-sized Mi Max 2 phablet in India by Rs. 1,000 and customers now can purchase the smartphone at just Rs. 13,999 (32GB internal storage variant), which is much lesser than its earlier price. As a reminder, the Chinese vendor launched their Xiaomi Mi Max 2 smartphone in the Indian tech market in July this year with a price tag of Rs. 16,999 (64GB internal storage variant). Last month, the company also launched a new 32GB storage variant of the Mi Max 2 in the Indian market at Rs. 14,999. With the new price, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 32GB internal storage variant is now available at Rs. 13,999, whereas the Mi Max 2 64GB storage variant is priced at Rs. 15,999.

Carried a such an attractive price tag, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is now already made available for purchase in India via e-commerce websites Amazon.in, Flipkart.com as well as company’s official online retail store Mi.com and Mi Home stores across the country in Black colour option. Flipkart is also offering some additional offers on the Mi Max 2 64GB storage variant to make the deal better. The domestic e-commerce giant is also offering an exchange discount of up to Rs. 15,000, and Extra 5% discount for the Axis Bank Buzz credit card holders. You can also opt for Flipkart’s Buyback Guarantee, which gives you a guaranteed best value of the Mi Max 2 when you exchange your Mi Max 2 to another smartphone on Flipkart in the future.

The main highlights of the Mi Max 2 are its mammoth 5,300 mAh battery and the massive 6.44-inch full-HD resolution display. Design wise, Xiaomi Mi Max 2 sports a full-metal unibody design with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, located just middle of the device. The volume rockers and the power/lock buttons are all placed on the right-hand edge of the device and a 3.5mm audio socket is placed on the very top edge of the phone. Dual speaker grilles are seen at the bottom edge of the device along with a USB-C type charging port sitting in the middle. The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 also features an IR Blaster (infrared sensor) that can be used as a universal remote to control third-party electronics & appliances like set-top boxes, audio consoles, TVs, fans, air conditioners or DVD players.

Talking about its specifications, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 sports a huge and gorgeous 6.4-inch full HD display with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a scratch resistance 2.5D Corning Gorilla 3 curved glass coating on top. The device is powered by a 2.0GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor paired with Adreno 506 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, Mi Max 2 is backed up by a 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. Talking about its software fronts, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 runs Google’s Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system with company’s own MIUI custom skin running on top of the device. The phablet also features a rear-mounted fingerprint recognition button for biometric security.

For photography, Xiaomi Mi Max 2 features a 12-megapixel Sony IMX386 rear sensor with an f/2.2 aperture, 1.25-micron pixels, PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus) support and Dual LED flashlight for excellent low-light photography.  On the front, it has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture, 85-degree wide-angle lens for capturing better groufie and video calling.

In terms of connectivity, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 supports dual-SIM dual standby using the hybrid dual-SIM slot (Micro-SIM + Nano-SIM/microSD). That means you can either use this as a dual-SIM phone without memory card option or single-SIM phone with memory card option. Apart from this, the smartphone also offers various connectivity options including 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.5GHz & 5.0GHz with MIMO technology), hotspot, GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.2, a 3.5mm audio port, IR blaster, USB OTG, and a USB Type-C port for superfast charging and data transfer. Sensors on the smartphone include Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, E-Compass, Gyroscope sensor and Fingerprint sensor. On the battery front, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is fuelled by a massive 5,300mAh battery that is rated to deliver up to two days of battery life on a single charge. The battery also supports Qualcomm’s Quick charge 3.0 fast charging technology which can charge the device up to 68% within 1 hour. Dimensionally, the handset measures 174.1 x 88.7 x 7.6 mm and weighs 211 grams.
