Child artist Sunny Pawar has amazed the Hollywood with his adorable performance in Oscar-nominated movie Lion starring Dev Patel, Nicole Kidman, and David Wenham.
The movie has been critically acclaimed and has been loved by the audience. The movie has made the little boy a star.
Here are some unknown facts about the 7-year-old Sunny Pawar.
1.Sunny Pawar hails from a slum area in Mumbai. Sunny and his younger brother and sister stay with their father, who is a sweeper in a government office and mother, who is a housewife.
2.Sunny Pawar auditioned in Pune and Mumbai. If reports are to be believed he was selected among 2000 talented kids all over India, to play the role of Saroo Brierley. Although he is not fluent in English but he seemed to have nailed the role.
3. In the 89th Academy Awards, Jimmy Kimmel, the host spoke to him about the editing quality in ‘Hacksaw Ridge’. Sunny kept his answers endearing and then later was asked to imitate the signature movement from the hit animation film ‘Lion King’.
4. It was a difficult task for the Director to narrate the scenes to little Sunny. Garth Davis the director used sign language to make Sunny understand the dialogues and enact the scenes. Sunny was mostly accompanied by his father and translator Rahul to interact with others.
5. Sunny being a 7-year-old kid was always in a playful mood and during the breaks he taught cricket to his on-screen mother, Nicole Kidman and his on-screen father, David Wenham.
In earlier movies like Slumdog millionaire and Life of Pi, we had seen child actors like Ayush Khedkar, Rubina Ali and Ayush Tandon do a marvellous performance. Just like them, little Sunny has already made a good name for him in Hollywood. We are hoping to see some more alluring acting in the future.
