The 30 participants of the Royal Rumble

The Royal Rumble 2017 event took place at the Alamodale arena in Texas, USA. The Royal Rumble has been part of the WWE calendar since 1988. This year was the 30th Royal Rumble. The event’s mainstay is the 30 man Royal Rumble. The winner of the Rumble gets a chance to headline WWE’s biggest event of the year, The Wrestlemania.

The event featured 8 matches with three matches held during the pre show. The Ore-show results are:

The first match of the Show featured the RAW Women’s champion Charlotte Flair vs Bayley. After an intense fight lasting over 13 minutes Flair pinned Bayley to retain her title. The next match pitted WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens against Roman Reigns with the stipulation that Owen’s friend Chris Jericho would be locked in a cage and suspended above the ring for the match. Owens and Jericho attacked Reigns before the match began. Reigns fought back and locked Jericho in his cage.

After that the No-disqualification match began. Reigns and Owens used a plethora of chairs, tables and absolutely anything they could get their hands on. Braun Strowman interfered in the match and attacked Roman Reigns. This interference would let Owens defend his title successfully. Last match before the Royal Rumble was John Cena against WWE champion AJ Styles. The back and forth match lasted over 24 minutes and ended with Cena’s signature move Attitude Adjustment.

John Cena became a 16 time World Champion after defeating AJ Styles.

The main event for the night was the 30 man Royal Rumble. The match started with Big Cass and Chris Jericho started the match. Number of superstars participated in the rumble like Sheamus, Brock Lesnar, Goldberg, The Undertaker, Randy Orton, Roman Reigns. Braun Strowman eliminated the most superstars 7 in total. Orton entered the ring at number 23 and eliminated the last man Roman Reigns with an RKO to win the Rumble.

The event was fun one to watch with a number of highs and lots of excitement.
