Xiaomi unveils new Mi Notebook Pro with 15.6-inch Display, Windows 10 OS

To recall, the Chinese electronics company Xiaomi launched its first Mi Notebook Air in China back in July 2016. After that, the company launched the upgraded version of the previous base model, dubbed as the Mi Notebook Air 4G which runs on Windows 10 OS. A few days ago, the company also launched a new refreshed version of the Mi Notebook Air with a 13.3-inch screen in the Chinese tech market. And now, adding to the Mi Notebook portfolio, Xiaomi has unveiled an another powerful notebook, dubbed as the “Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro” at an event in China. Xiaomi claims that their next-generation notebook will compete against the Apple’s MacBook Pro as the Mi Notebook Pro comes packed with a wide range of new features and performance upgrades including Intel’s 8th generation processors, symmetrical cooling design, Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protected display, full-size backlit keyboard, a fingerprint sensor for biometric security, and NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphics cards.

The Mi Notebook Pro comes in three variants based on its CPU configuration and RAM capacity: Mi Notebook Pro with Intel Core i7 & 16GB RAM, Mi Notebook Pro with Intel Core i7 & 8GB RAM, and Mi Notebook Pro with Intel Core i5 & 8GB RAM. As for pricing, the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro with Intel Core i7 & 16GB RAM variant has been launched in China with a starting price of CNY 6999 (approximately Rs. 68,600), the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro with Intel Core i7 & 8GB RAM variant is priced at CNY 6,399 (approximately Rs. 62,700), while for the low-spec variant with Intel Core i5 processor & 8GB RAM variant, you have to pay CNY 5,599 (approximately Rs. 54,900). All the variants will soon be available in China in Dary Gray colour option. The main highlights of the notebook are its fingerprint scanner for high-grade biometric security and one-touch login with Windows Hello, magnesium alloy body and Harman Infinity speakers with Dolby Atmos for an immersive sound experience.

Mi Notebook Pro Specifications and Features:

The new Mi Notebook Pro sports a 15-6 inch Full-HD (1080p) display with thin-bezels and a scratch resistance Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. The display is bright and vivid and offers a 72 percent NTSC colour gamut. Under the hood, the Mi Notebook Pro is powered by the 8th generation Intel Core i7 processor with clock speed at 4GHz. There is also an option for buyers to choose an Intel Core i5 variant as well. The Intel Core 8th generation processors are claimed to be around 40 percent more powerful than the previous generation. In terms of memory, the Mi Notebook Pro is backed by an 8GB/16GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM and up to 256GB PCIe SSD storage for faster data access speeds and boot-up times. The notebook also dedicated slot for an additional SSD expansion. For graphics, the Mi Notebook Pro comes with NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphics card for powerful performance and flawless gaming visuals. The machine features a full-size backlit keyboard, which the company claims the area is 19 percent larger than the Apple MacBook Pro. The Mi Notebook Pro runs on Windows 10 operating system and features a 1MP HD webcam for making video calls.

Ports on the device include two USB 3.0 Type-A ports, two USB 3.0 Type-C ports, one full-sized HDMI port, a 3.5mm earphone jack, and a 3-in-1 (SD/SDHC/SDXC) card slot. The connectivity options offered by the notebook include Wi-Fi 802.11ac 2×2 (2.4GHz and 5GHz) and Bluetooth v4.1. The device also features Harman Infinity tuned speakers with Dolby Atmos for an outstanding audio quality even without headphones. Dimensionally, the notebook measures 360.7 x 243.6 x 15.9mm and weighs around 1.95kg. On the battery front, the Mi Notebook Pro packs a 60Wh battery with fast charging support that can recharge the device to 50 percent in just 35 minutes. Talking about its battery life, the Mi Notebook Pro promises to deliver up to 9 hours of local video playback time and up to 8.5 hours of web browsing time on a single charge.
