After launching S10 flagship smartphone series in China last month, Shenzhen-based smartphone manufacturer Gionee on Thursday launched a Lite version of its popular selfie-centric A series smartphone, dubbed as “Gionee A1 Lite” in Nepal. Priced at Nepalese Rupee 26,999 (approximately Rs. 16,900/ $260), the new Gionee A1 Lite will be available for pre-booking starting June 18 at all Gionee retail stores in Nepal. The smartphone has been launched in Nepal in three attractive body colour options including Gold, Red and Black. The Gionee A1 Lite variant is the successor to company’s A series smartphone, which was first showcased at MWC 2017 (Mobile Congress) event in Barcelona back in February. As of now, the company has not revealed the launch details and availability of the new Gionee A1 Lite for other markets. The key highlights of the smartphone are its 20-megapixel front-facing camera and a mammoth 4000mAh battery.

Gionee A1 Lite Design, Specifications and Features:

In terms of design, the Gionee A1 Lite sports a metal unibody design with a metal frame all around giving it an overall premium look. The new smartphone also features capacitive navigation buttons and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, that is housed on the rear panel of the device. The volume rockers and the power/lock buttons are placed on the right-hand edge of the smartphone and a 3.5mm audio socket is placed on the right bottom edge of the handset along with a microUSB port sitting in the middle. The rear panel houses a 13MP rear camera setup with a LED flash module, while the top front panel features a 20MP selfie camera, LED flash and an earpiece.

Talking about its specifications, the Gionee A1 Lite sports a 5.3 inch IPS HD display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a 2.5D curved glass coating on top. The device is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which is further expandable up to 64GB via a microSD card. Talking about its software front, the Gionee A1 Lite runs company’s proprietary Amigo 4.0 custom UI skin, based on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.

In terms of optics, the new Gionee A1 Lite houses a 13-megapixel rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture and an LED flash. On the front, there is a 20-megapixel front-facing shooter with f/2.0 aperture. The selfie camera also comes with an LED flash module for capturing selfies and making video call even in low light.

In terms of connectivity, the dual-SIM (Nano+Nano) Gionee A1 Lite offers various connectivity options including 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 (b/g/n), hotspot, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/A-GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microUSB port for charging and data transfer. The Gionee A1 Lite is backed by a high-density 4000 mAh non-removable battery that is rated to deliver up to 295 hours of standby time. Sensors on the smartphone include an Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, Proximity sensor, E-compass, Fingerprint (rear-mounted) sensor and Gyroscope sensor.
