Soon after launching the A1 Plus camera-centric smartphone in the Indian market, Shenzhen-based smartphone manufacturer Gionee on Wednesday launched a new Lite version of its popular selfie-centric Gionee A1 smartphone, christened as “Gionee A1 Lite” in the Indian tech market. Priced at Rs. 14,999, the new Gionee A1 Lite will be made available for purchase in India starting from Tomorrow (August 10) via all leading offline retail stores across the country in Black and Gold colour variants. The Gionee A1 Lite variant is the toned-down version of the company’s previous Gionee A1 smartphone, which was first showcased at MWC 2017 (Mobile Congress) event in Barcelona back in February. The key highlights of the Gionee A1 Lite are its 20-megapixel front-facing camera and a mammoth 4000mAh battery.

A few weeks ago, the company also launched a special Signature Edition of Gionee A1 smartphone in the Indian market at Rs. 19,999. The new special edition of Gionee A1 comes decorated with Gionee’s brand ambassador and Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli’s signature at the rear panel.

In terms of design, the Gionee A1 Lite sports a metal unibody design with a metal frame all around giving it an overall premium look. The new smartphone also features capacitive navigation buttons and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, that is housed in the middle of the back panel of the device. The volume rockers and the power/lock buttons are placed on the right-hand edge of the smartphone, while a 3.5mm audio socket is situated on the right bottom edge of the handset along with a microUSB port sitting in the middle. The rear panel houses a 13MP rear camera setup with a LED flash module, a fingerprint recognition button and the speaker grills (at the rear end), while the top front panel features a 20MP selfie camera, LED flash and an earpiece.

Talking about its specifications, the Gionee A1 Lite comes equipped with a 5.3-inch HD IPS display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a scratch resistance 2.5D curved glass coating on top of the display. Under the hood, the device is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor paired with Mali T-720 GPU to take care of graphics. In terms of memory, the Gionee A1 Lite is backed up by a 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 256GB using a hybrid microSD card slot. Talking about its software front, the Gionee A1 Lite runs company’s proprietary Amigo 4.0 custom UI skin, based on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.

In terms of optics, the new Gionee A1 Lite houses a 13-megapixel rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture and an LED flash module. On the front, the smartphone features a 20-megapixel front-facing shooter with an f/2.0 aperture. The selfie camera also comes equipped with an LED flash module for capturing bright selfies and making video calls even in low light conditions.

In terms of connectivity, the Gionee A1 Lite is a dual-SIM smartphone that accepts two Nano-SIM cards. Apart from this, the device also supports various connectivity options that include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 (b/g/n), hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, USB OTG, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microUSB port for charging and other connectivity. On the battery front, the Gionee A1 Lite comes loaded with a denser 4,000mAh non-removable battery that is rated to deliver up to 295 hours of standby time and up to 30 hours of normal usage time. Sensors on the smartphone include an Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, Proximity sensor, E-compass, Fingerprint (rear-mounted) sensor and a Gyroscope sensor. Dimension wise, the handset measures at 150.5 x 74.4 x 8 mm.
