Japanese smartphone manufacturer Sony Corporation on Thursday expanded its Xperia X series of smartphones portfolio with the launch of a new mid-range smartphone, dubbed as the “Xperia XA1 Plus” in the Indian tech market. Priced at Rs. 24,990, the new Xperia XA1 Plus will be made available for purchase in India starting September 22, 2017, via the company’s offline store, Sony Centres as well as all leading offline retail stores across the country in Black, Blue, and Gold colour options. Sony Xperia XA1 Plus is the successor to the company’s previous Xperia XA1 smartphone, which was launched in India back in April last year.
If you don’t remember, the Japanese company launched their mid-range XA1 Plus smartphone last month at the IFA 2017 trade show event in Berlin, along with company’s another mid-range model, Xperia XZ1 Compact and premium flagship Sony Xperia XZ1, which is scheduled to launch in India on Monday, September 25. The key highlights of the Xperia XA1 Plus are its stunning 5.5-inch full-HD display, borderless design, 23MP primary camera, a powerful 3,430mAh battery with Qnovo Adaptive fast charging technology support.
Sony Xperia XA1 Plus Specifications and Features:
In terms of specifications, the Sony Xperia XA1 Plus features a large 5.5-inch full-HD display with screen resolution of 1080×1920 pixels and offers a borderless edge-to-edge design with Image Enhance technology. The display is also protected by a scratch resistance Corning Gorilla Glass. Under the hood, the Xperia XA1 Plus is powered by a 2.3GHz MediaTek Helio P20 octa-core processor clubbed with ARM Mali T880 GPU to take care the graphics content. In terms of memory, the device comes loaded with a 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card. Talking about its software front, the Xperia XA1 Plus runs on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box. Sony has confirmed that the Xperia XA1 Plus will get the Android 8.0 Oreo update soon. The Sony Xperia XA1 Plus also features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor that allows users to unlock the device with high-grade security.
In terms of photography, the Xperia XA1 Plus sports a 23-megapixel rear camera unit with hybrid autofocus, 1/2.3” type Exmor RS image sensor, SteadyShot, a 24mm wide-angle lens, an f/2.0 aperture and an LED Flash module. Talking about its front camera, the XA1 Plus includes an 8-megapixel camera with an f/2.0 aperture, 1/4-inch Exmor R sensor, 23mm wide-angle lens for capturing selfies and making video calls.
In terms of connectivity, the Xperia XA1 Plus is a dual-SIM smartphone that accepts two Nano-SIM cards. Apart from this, the device also supports 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a USB Type-C port for super-fast charging and data transfer. On the battery front, the Sony XA1 Plus comes packed with a denser 3,430mAh battery, which supports Qnovo Adaptive charging tech and MediaTek Pump Express+ 2.0 fast charging technology support. Sensors on the smartphone include a Fingerprint sensor (side-mounted), Proximity, E-Compass, Accelerometer, Gyroscope and Ambient Light Sensor. Dimension wise, the handset measures 155 x 75 x 8.7mm and weighs 190 grams.
