After a series of many leaks and revelations, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei on Friday officially announced the launched of its latest premium mid-range smartphone, dubbed as the “Huawei Maimang 6” in the Chinese tech market. The Huawei Maimang 6 aka Mate 10 Lite is the successor to the company’s previous Maimang 5, which was launched in July last year as Huawei G9 (for some markets). The new Maimang 6 is also said to be introduced globally as Huawei Mate 10 Lite next month along with the company’s much-anticipated Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro. Carried a price tag of CNY 2,399 (approximately Rs 23,600), the Huawei Maimang 6 is now available for pre-order in China, while the same will going on sale in China starting September 30 (Saturday) in Obsidian Black, Streamer Gold and Aurora Blue colour options. Sadly, the company has made no official announcements about the pricing details and availability of the new smartphone for other markets.
Huawei Maimang 6 Design:
In terms of design, the Huawei Maimang 6 sports an all-metal unibody design and a sleek back finish with curved metal edges, meaning that the device comes with a relatively premium build quality. The smartphone’s sleek design is designed to provide a comfortable grip in your palm. The Maimang 6 features onscreen navigation buttons and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, that is housed on the back panel of the device. The volume up-down keys and power-key/lock button are all placed on the right-hand edge of the devices and a 3.5mm audio jack is placed on the very bottom edge of the phone. The vertically arranged dual rear camera setup is still positioned exactly the top portion of the rear panel, while the dual front-facing camera is fixed on the top right corner of the front panel. The speaker grilles are seen at the bottom edge of the handset along with a charging port sitting in the middle.
Huawei Maimang 6 Features and Specifications:
In terms of specifications, the Huawei Maimang 6 comes equipped with a large 5.9-inch Full HD+ display with a screen resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels, an 18:9 aspect ratio and a scratch resistance 2.5D curved glass coating on top. Talking about its power and performance, the Maimang 6 is powered by a 2.36GHz Kirin 659 octa-core processor coupled with Mali T830 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the smartphone comes loaded with a 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card. Talking about its software fronts, the Huawei Maimang 6 runs company’s proprietary EMUI 5.1 custom UI skin, based on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. As we mentioned, the smartphone also features a rear-mounted fingerprint recognition button for biometric authentication process.
In terms of optics, the Maimang 6 houses a dual rear-facing camera setup that comes combined with a 16-megapixel primary sensor with a dual-tone LED flash and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. On the front, the smartphone sports a dual front-facing camera setup, which is the main highlight of this device. However, the dual front-facing camera setup includes a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor with soft LED flash for capturing bright selfies even in low light conditions.
On the connectivity front, the Huawei Maimang 6 supports various connectivity options including dual-SIM dual standby (nano+nano/microSD), 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS / A-GPS / Glonass, NFC and a 3.5mm audio jack. On the battery front, the Maimang 6 packs a high-density 3,340mAh battery. Sensors on the smartphone include an Ambient light sensor, Accelerometer, Proximity sensor and Fingerprint sensor (rear-mounted). Dimension wise, the handset measures 156.2 x 75.2 x 7.5 mm and weighs 164 grams.
