After launching the Mi Max 2 with 32GB storage version in India last month, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi is all set to introduce its much-awaited bezel-less display smartphone, called the “Xiaomi Mi Mix 2” in the Indian tech market on Tuesday, October 10. The company has already started sending out the media invites for its upcoming premium smartphone launch event next week, which is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, October 10 in New Delhi, India. At the event, Xiaomi will be announcing the pricing details and availability of its premium bezel-less display smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. Xiaomi India on Wednesday shared a teaser image about the Xiaomi’s big smartphone launch event on its official Twitter account. The Tweet reads, “Mi MIX 2 is finally coming to India on 10/10! RT if you’ve been waiting for this Premium Flagship smartphone by Xiaomi! #TheOriginalX”.
On the other hand, Xiaomi India’s Managing Director, Manu Kumar Jain on Wednesday confirmed in a Twitter post that the freshly launched Mi Mix 2 will be launched in India on October 10. His Tweet reads, “The wait is over.. #MiMIX2 is coming to India! Come Oct 10 and hail the Mi MIX 2 #TheOriginalX 😎 @XiaomiIndia RT if you are excited 😇”.

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 was first launched in China in September with a starting price of CNY 3,299 (approximately Rs. 32,350). The Mi Mix 2 comes in three different variants based on their RAM and internal storage capacity — Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 with 6GB RAM & 64GB internal storage, Mi Mix 2 with 6GB RAM & 128GB internal storage, and Mi Mix 2 with 6GB RAM & 256GB internal storage. As for pricing, the base model of the Mi Mix 2 is priced at CNY 3,299 (approximately Rs. 32,350), the Mi Mix 2 with 6GB RAM & 128GB internal storage version is priced at CNY 3,599 (approximately Rs. 35,280), while the top-end model with 6GB RAM & 256GB native storage variant has been priced at CNY 3,999 (approximately Rs. 39,210). Besides this, the company was also announced a Special Edition of the Mi Mix 2, which comes with an all-ceramic body, 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage capacity. It has been priced at CNY 4,699 (approximately Rs. 46,000). But still, now it is unclear, which specific smartphone or model will be launched at the New Delhi event. Because the Mi Mix 2 comes in two variants in China — one with full ceramic body and other with 7-Series aluminium alloy frame with four-sided curved ceramic body. The regular edition is only available in Black, the special edition comes in Black and White body colour options. But if you take look at the provided launch pictures, you will see only the black variants.
As far as specifications are concerned, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 comes equipped with a large 5.99-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED display with screen resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. The display has 18:9 aspect ratio, DCI-P3 colour gamut, 1500:1 contrast ratio, and offers a pixel density of 403ppi. Under the hood, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is powered by a 2.45GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor clubbed with Adreno 540 image processing unit to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the Mi Mix 2 is backed up by 6GB / 8GB (Special edition) of LPDDR4x RAM and 64GB / 128GB / 256GB of internal storage. On the software fronts, the device runs company’s proprietary MIUI 9 custom UI skin, based on Google’s Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system. The Mi Mix 2 also features a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometric security.
In terms of optics, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 features a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera with Sony IMX386 sensor, an f/2.0 aperture, 1.25μm pixel size, 4-axis OIS (optical image stabilisation), and dual-tone LED flash. The rear camera is also capable of shooting videos in 4K (2160p) resolution. On the front, the handset features a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter with facial recognition technology.
On the connectivity front, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 offers 2.2 dual-band Wi-Fi technology which allows for better and wider connectivity. Apart from this, the dual-SIM (nano + nano) smartphone also offers various connectivity options including with 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2×2 MIMO), Wi-Fi Hotspot, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS, Beidou, a 3.5mm audio jack and a USB-Type C port for superfast charging and data transfer. Sensors on the device include Fingerprint (rear-mounted), Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Ambient Light sensor, Barometer, E-Compass, and Ultrasonic Proximity sensor. On the battery front, the Mi Mix 2 comes packed with a decent non-removable 3,400mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology support. Dimensionally, the Mi Mix 2 standard variant measures 151.8 x 75.5 x 7.7mm and weighs 185 grams, while the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 Special Edition measures 150.5 x 74.6 x 7.7mm and weighs 187 grams.
