After announcing the Rs. 69 SuperWeek plan, India’s second largest telecom operator, Vodafone India on Friday also introduced a new data and voice-centric prepaid recharge plan, called the ‘Vodafone Rs. 496” for the residents of Delhi & NCR circle. The new Vodafone Rs. 496 prepaid recharge plan offers its prepaid subscribers unlimited voice calling (all network Local + STD) and 496GB 4G mobile data with a validity of 84 days. The new announcement comes just seven days after Reliance Jio refreshed its 4G tariff plans for its both new and existing prepaid subscribers.
With its new tariff plans, Reliance Jio has increased the rate of some of its earlier prepaid plans, decreased the daily FUP limit of its earlier plans and also reduced the postpaid plan’s validity period. For example, the newly launched Rs. 399 recharge plan offers its prepaid subscribers unlimited voice calling (all network Local + STD) and 1GB data per day for 70 days on a recharge of just Rs. 399. On the other hand, the new Rs. 459 recharge plan offers its prepaid subscribers unlimited voice calling (any network Local + STD) and 1GB 4G data per day for 84 days on a recharge of just Rs. 459. Basically, the 84-days validity plan with 1GB data per day now costs Rs. 459 and the current Rs. 399 now comes with 70-days validity period.
However, Vodafone prepaid subscribers recharging with Rs. 496 can avail free unlimited voice calling to any network and any region (Local + STD) in the country, free national roaming (outgoing & incoming), along with 1GB of 3G or 4G (depending on the circle) mobile data per day for a period of 84 days, totaling 84GB 3G/4G data for the period. The British telecom operator says there is no daily or weekly cap on how many minutes a customer can make the outgoing calls. Note that, the Rs. 459 plan is a First Recharge Coupon that means only new subscribers from the Delhi & NCR circle can avail this FRC scheme. All Vodafone new/MNP customers having 3G or 4G-enabled handsets can avail this offer and enjoy the data strong network’s best value voice and data proposition in the said period.
Apart from this, there is also a first recharge scheme called Rs. 177 plan, where the company offers unlimited voice calling along with 1GB data per day for a period of 28 days. Under this Rs. 177 plan, customers recharging with Rs. 177 can avail free unlimited local and STD calls, along with 1GB mobile data per day for a period of 28 days. Unfortunately, the customer will not get the free incoming and outgoing roaming call benefits with this plan.
With the launch of its two new first recharge plans, Vodafone India is aggressively going to compete against its other rival operators — Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular, Aircel, and others. In the Indian telecom industry, the revolutionary entry of Reliance Jio has created a new storm and changed the entire telecom scenario with its highly affordable tariff plans and forced the other telecom giants to reduce their data and calling rates. To counter Reliance Jio’s tariff plans, other leading telecom operators have been trying really hard to establish new market strategies and come up with aggressive plans in the Indian market.

Earlier this week, Vodafone India also announced the launch of its two new affordable prepaid recharge plans, called the “Vodafone Rs. 181 and Vodafone Rs. 195” for the prepaid subscribers. The Vodafone Rs. 181 recharge plan offers its prepaid subscribers unlimited voice calling (all network Local + STD) and unlimited 2G mobile data with a validity of 28 days. On the other side, the Vodafone Rs. 195 recharge plan offers its prepaid subscribers unlimited voice calling (all network Local + STD) and a total of 1GB mobile data with a validity of 28 days.
