IPL in particular has coped criticism for most of the things be it corruption or player priorities or match fixing etc. A couple of days ago, IPL 2017 was not even getting discussed and for its fans, clouds of uncertainty were all over it. But to give a breather to all ,CoA lead by Vinod Rai in its latest meeting has given a green signal to IPL 2017 preparations.
A statement issued by the BCCI on February 1(Wednesday) evening read: “The CoA met the concerned (BCCI) officials today to take stock of the urgent and important matters mainly concerning the successful conduct of IPL 2017.”
“The IPL 2017 season will commence as scheduled from 5th April 2017. The IPL operational timelines for 2017 season will be communicated shortly by the BCCI/IPL management team,” a media release stated.
The four-member panel also had assurance for franchises. “The COA further assures the Franchisees and all the stakeholders that all the IPL preparations will be promptly dealt with under the supervision and directions of the COA by the BCCI/IPL management team,” it stated.
With the dates(April 5) coming near and preparations yet to be started, following are some of the things BCCI will have to work on in the shortest time possible: Broadcast/production strategies; Digital New Media strategies; hospitality service; ticketing arrangement with franchises; logistics; marketing and commercial; merchandise; operations; match day entertainment; opening ceremony; playoffs ticketing; insurance; fan parks.
