Taiwanese computer hardware company Asus has recently launched its another high-performance convertible notebook, dubbed as the “Asus Chromebook Flip C101” in the US tech market. The new Chromebook from Asus comes equipped with a 10.1-inch rotatable touchscreen display, 360-degree hinge, a decent battery life (up to 9 hours), and a brushed metal body design with diamond-cut edges, giving it an overall premium outlook. The Chromebook Flip C101 comes equipped with a seamless aluminum chassis, making it a sleeker, lighter, stronger and more durable Chromebook than the average plastic chassis Chromebook.
The Asus Chromebook Flip C101 is the successor to the company’s previous Chromebook Flip C100, which was launched in 2015. The Asus Chromebook Flip C101 runs on Google’s latest Chrome OS operating system designed for Chromebooks and supports Android web applications. As for pricing and availability, the Asus Chromebook Flip C101 has been launched in the US with a price tag of US$299 (approximately Rs. 19,400) and will be made available for purchase in the US starting today via e-commerce website Amazon.com, and company’s official online store Asus.com in Silver colour option.
Technically speaking, the new Asus Chromebook Flip C101 features a 10.1-inch WXGA IPS display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. The touchscreen display offers 178-degree wide viewing angles and has multi-touch capability to enhance your Chrome OS experience. The key highlight of the Chromebook Flip C101 is its 360-degree hinge, that allows users to use their notebook in a variety of different positions. The laptop can be used as a tablet, a traditional laptop, positioned as a tent or propped up like a stand. Under the hood, the flippable 10-inch Chromebook is powered by the new 2.0 GHz Rockchip RK3399 processor (Dual-Core X Cortex-A72 & Quad-Core X Cortex-A53), which comes accompanied by a Mali T860 MP4 GPU to handle the graphics content. In terms of memory, the laptop is backed up by a 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 16GB of eMMC internal storage for powerful and efficient performance. The laptop also features an HD webcam that offers a wide-angle field of view for making video calls.
Ports on the Asus Chromebook Flip C101 include two USB 3.1 Type-C (Gen 1) ports, one traditional USB 2.0 Type-A port, one headphone-out & audio-in combo jack, and a Micro SD card reader slot. Connectivity options offered by the Asus Chromebook include Wi-Fi 802.11ac with dual-band technology and Bluetooth 4.0. Apart from this, the Chromebook Flip C101 also features high-quality stereo speakers with large audio chambers that delivers a smooth, rich, and crystal-clear sound to users in music and movies. On the battery front, the Asus Chromebook Flip C101 comes packed with a powerful 38WHrs, 2-cell lithium-ion battery that is rated to deliver an all-day worth battery life of up to 9 hours. Note that, battery life may vary depending on the workload, usage type and environmental conditions. Dimensionally, the Asus Chromebook Flip C101 measures 264.1 x 182.8 x 15.2 mm and weighs just 907 grams.
