Soon after launching the A1 Plus smartphone in the Indian market, Chinese handset manufacturer Gionee on Friday expanded its mid-range smartphone portfolio with the launch of a new device, called the “Gionee F109” in the Chinese smartphone market. Priced at CNY 1299 (roughly Rs. 12,350), the new Gionee F109 will be made available for purchase in China starting today via company’s official website in Night Dark and Gold colour options. Unfortunately, the company has made no official announcements about the pricing details and availability of the Gionee F109 for other markets.

Design wise, the Gionee F109 sports a metal unibody design with a metal frame all around, giving it an overall premium outlook. The power-key button and volume up-down keys are all placed on the right-hand edge of the devices and a 3.5mm audio jack is placed on the very bottom edge of the phone. The rear camera lens is still positioned exactly the top left corner and one front-facing camera is fixed on the top left corner of the front panel. The speaker grilles are located at the bottom edge of the handset along with a microUSB 2.0 charging port sitting in the middle.

Technically speaking, the new Gionee F109 flaunts a 5-inch HD IPS display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Under the hood, the device is powered by a 1.25GHz MediaTek MT6737 quad-core processor paired with Mali-T720 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the smartphone comes loaded with a 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card. Talking about its software front, the Gionee F109 runs company’s proprietary Amigo 4.0 custom UI skin, based on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.

In terms of optics, the Gionee F109 sports an 8-megapixel camera at the rear with CMOS sensor and an LED flash module. On the front, it features a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter for capturing selfies and making video calls. In terms of connectivity, the smartphone offers various connectivity options including Dual-SIM, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 (b/g/n), Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, USB OTG, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microUSB 2.0 port for charging and data transfer. On the battery front, the Gionee F109 comes packed with a 2,660mAh lithium-ion battery. Sensors on the smartphone include an Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, Proximity sensor, E-compass, and Gyroscope sensor. Dimensionally, the handset measures 143 x 70 x 7.9 mm and weighs 141.9 grams.
