The Indian arm of the Japanese automobiles company Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) on Friday expanded its product portfolio with the launch of a special edition of its Jazz premium hatchback, christened as “Honda Jazz Privilege Edition” in the Indian auto market with a starting price of Rs. 7.36 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi). The special edition of Honda Jazz now comes equipped with improved styling, exciting features, advanced infotainment system, and a host of smart and luxury equipment. The new Honda Jazz Privilege Edition has been offered by the company in three variants and will be available in both petrol and diesel powertrain options. Based on the V Grade models, the new Privilege Edition of the Honda Jazz is priced Rs. 5,000 over the standard V variant and will be available on both the manual as well as automatic transmission trims.

Engine & Performance:

Talking about its mechanical department, the new Honda Jazz Privilege Edition will be offered in two powertrain options — one petrol variant and one diesel variant. The petrol variant Jazz Privilege Edition is powered by a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that generates 90 bhp of peak power at 6,000rpm against the peak torque of 110 Nm at 4,800rpm. On the other hand, the diesel variant Jazz Privilege Edition is powered by a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine that churns out 100 bhp of peak power at 3,600rpm against the peak torque of 200 Nm at 1,750rpm. The petrol engine comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox or a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) automatic setup, while the diesel mill comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Actually, the five-speed manual transmission is standard on both the engine variants. In terms of fuel efficiency, the petrol engine offers 18.2 kmpl on manual transmission variant and 19 kmpl on the CVT automatic transmission variant. On the other hand, the diesel engine offers 27.3 kmpl on the 5-speed manual transmission variant.

Exterior and Interior:

Talking about its exterior design, the Honda Jazz Privilege Edition comes with no visible exterior changes. The only change is a new ‘Privilege Edition’ emblem on the boot-lid of the car. The new Privilege Edition of the Honda Jazz also comes equipped with Privilege Edition-themed special beige leatherette seat covers, floor mats and rear parking sensors.

Inside the cabin, the special edition Honda Jazz features a host of smart and luxury equipment that includes a 7-inch colour touchscreen infotainment system, called the “DIGIPAD”. The advanced infotainment system supports MirrorLink, inbuilt satellite-linked 3D navigation, Wi-Fi reception along with email and live traffic updates, Bluetooth connectivity, internet access, and voice commands functionality. MirrorLink technology allows you to pair a smartphone with the car. In addition, the infotainment system also comes with 1.5GB internal media memory, two MicroSD card slots, two USB slots, and a HDMI-in port.

As we mentioned, the Privilege Edition is based on Honda Jazz V grade models, so all the standard features are present on the special edition vehicle. Standard features on the new Honda Jazz Privilege Edition include Dual front airbags, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), Touch Panel for automatic AC, Rear camera, Alloy wheels, Electrically adjustable and retractable ORVMs with turn indicators, Multi-information meter with Eco-Assist Ambient meter rings, among others. The petrol engine powered Honda Jazz with CVT variant also features paddle shifters that allow drivers to manually change gears.

Further, the Honda Jazz Privilege Edition offers various safety, security and convenience features including Impact Alert like a collision, a strong jerk, locate My Car, Trip analysis and Honda Connect app which provides service alerts and assists in safety & security.
