Huawei’s sub-brand Honor on Wednesday expanded its product portfolio with the launch of a new mid-range handset, called the “Honor 7X” in the Chinese tech market. The Honor 7X is the successor to company’s previous Honor 6X, which was launched last year. The new Honor 7X comes in three different variants based on its internal storage configuration: Honor 7X with 32GB internal storage, Honor 7X with 64GB internal storage and Honor 7X with 128GB internal storage. All the variants come coupled with 4GB RAM. As for pricing, the Honor 7X with 32GB internal storage variant has been launched in China with a price tag of CNY 1299 (approximately Rs. 12,900), the Honor 7X with 64GB internal storage variant has been priced at CNY 1699 (approximately Rs. 16,850), while for the top-spec variant with 128GB internal storage, you have to pay CNY 1999 (approximately Rs. 19,800). In terms of availability, the Honor 7X is now available for pre-order in China and the same will be going on sale in China starting October 17 via company’s official online store, Vmall.com in Midnight Black, Platinum Gold, and Aurora Blue colour options. Sadly, the international availability of the smartphone has not been disclosed by the company yet.

In terms of design, the Honor 7X sports a sleek metal unibody design with a metal frame all around giving it an overall premium look. The new Honor 7X also features onscreen navigation buttons and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, located on the rear panel of the smartphone. The volume rockers as well as the power/lock buttons are all placed on the right-hand edge of the smartphone and a 3.5mm audio socket is placed on the left bottom edge of the device. The speaker grilles are also seen at the bottom edge of the handset along with a microUSB charging port sitting in the middle. The rear panel houses a horizontally arranged 16MP + 2MP dual rear camera setup with a LED flash module and a fingerprint recognition button, while the top front panel features an 8MP selfie camera and an earpiece.

Honor 7X Specifications and Features:

Coming to the specifications, the Honor 7X sports a 5.93-inch full-HD+ display with a screen resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and a scratch resistance 2.5D curved glass protection on top of the display. The display also has minimal bezels with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a 2.36GHz Kirin 659 octa-core processor clubbed with Mali T830 MP2 image processing unit to handle the graphics content. In terms of memory, the phone comes loaded with a 4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB/128GB of native storage, which is further expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card. Talking about its software fronts, the dual-SIM Honor 7X runs company’s proprietary EMUI 5.1 custom UI skin, based on Google’s Android 7.1 Nougat operating system. The smartphone is also IP67 certified that means the Honor 7X is water and dust resistant.

In terms of optics, the new Honor 7X houses a dual rear camera setup that includes a 16-megapixel primary sensor with LED Flash and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. The secondary sensor on the smartphone is used for measuring the depth-of-field in the image for offering better Bokeh effect. On the front, the handset features an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter for capturing selfies and making video calls.

On the Connectivity front, the Honor 7X supports dual SIM dual standby using the hybrid SIM slot (Nano + Nano / MicroSD). Connectivity options on the Honor 7X also include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS, Bluetooth v4.1, a 3.5mm audio jack and a microUSB 2.0 port for charging. On the battery front, the Honor 7X is fuelled by a 3,340mAh non-removable battery that rated to deliver up to 21 hours of talktime and up to 22 days of standby time on a single charge. The device also supports the company’s SuperCharge fast charging technology with the help of a 9V/2A (18W) power adapter. Sensors on the smartphone include an Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, Fingerprint (rear-mounted) sensor, and Proximity sensor. Dimensionally, the handset measures 156.5 x 75.3 x 7.6 mm and weighs 165 grams.
