Taiwanese phone maker HTC Corporation on Thursday (February 9) has officially launched, its new water, splash and dust resistant smartphone “HTC 10 Evo” in India at a price of Rs 48,990. The smartphone, HTC 10 Evo is the same as the HTC Bolt, which was the company first unveiled in the USA in November last year and was first expected to be announced its availability in India in December last year.

Finally, after over a month’s delay, HTC has announced availability of this smartphone and the phone can be bought from HTC’s e-commerce store, which is priced at Rs 48,990. Additionally, the HTC 10 evo is also selling on Amazon India at Rs 46,900. While the Taiwanese version launched in three colour variants (Gold, Silver and Gunmetal), India only has the Pearl Gold variant with 32GB of on-board storage.
HTC 10 EVO SPECIFICATIONS & FEATURES
DISPLAY
The HTC 10 Evo comes equipped with a 5.5-inch Super LCD 3 display with 1440 x 2560 Quad HD resolution [pixel density at 534 ppi (pixel per inch)] along with color personalization. The Evo’s display is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 with curved edge, it is claimed that the new glass can resist the inevitable knocks, tumbles and bumps. It runs Android 7.0 Nougat-based HTC Sense UI out-of-the-box and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor.
CAMERA
Talking about the camera, the HTC 10 evo sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with 29.3mm wide angle lens, ƒ/2.0 aperture, optical image stabilization (OIS), dual LED flash, 4K video recording and slow-motion video capture at 120 fps. Apart from this, there is also an ultra-fast autofocus lock time of 0.3 seconds with Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF), which can make the picture-taking process much easier. At the front, the smartphone houses an 8-Megapixel selfie-shooter with ƒ/2.4 aperture along with features like screen flash. The front camera also supports HD video recording.
AUDIO
Speaking of audio, one of the biggest highlights of the device is its audio capabilities. The HTC 10 evo packs with USB Type C-enabled ‘dual adaptive’ headphones, coupled with HTC BoomSound Adaptive Audio. The USB Type-C dual adaptive earphones that adjust their output according to the users hearing style and shape and structure of the inner shape of the ear. And HTC’s own BoomSound adaptive audio tech, which company claims almost instantly adapts your audio to sound levels around you, keeping you in the music zone. Needless to say, there is no 3.5mm headphone jack in this one.
MEMORY/STORAGE
In the memory department, the 32GB inbuilt storage variant of the smartphone has been brought to India. The smartphone packs a disappointing 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard memory (ROM). Out of 32 GB storage, 23 GB is available for the users and rest are for device’s default applications. Don’t worry, the HTC 10 evo supports a microSD card slot that the storage can be further expanded up to 2TB via a microSD card.
POWER & PERFORMANCE
The smartphone, HTC 10 evo comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, octa-core processor clocked up to 2.0 Ghz along with 3GB of RAM and integrates the Adreno 430 GPU.
CONNECTIVITY
Connectivity options on the HTC 10 evo include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4 & 5 GHz) dual-band MIMO, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1 Low Energy, NFC, GPS with GLONASS and a USB Type-C (2.0) port for charging and data transfer. The HTC 10 Evo is backed by a 3,200mAh battery and supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 fast charging technology for faster charging. The phone dimensions are 153.59 x 77.3 x 3.7-8.09 mm and it weighs 174 grams.
OTHER KEY FEATURES
The HTC 10 evo sports a water-resistant all-metal unibody (aluminium build) with IP57 certification which makes it dust, splash and water resistant. The device runs the latest Android edition 7.0 Nougat out of the box, meaning it will come with all the features and updates that supports split-screen view, quicker multitasking, free unlimited photo storage with Google Photos app etc. The HTC 10 evo also uses a fingerprint reader below the display which the company claims, it takes less than 0.2 secs to unlock the phone.
