Taiwanese computer hardware manufacturer Acer on Wednesday announced the launch of its latest version of the Chromebook, called the “Acer Chromebook 15” at the IFA event in Berlin. The all-new Chromebook from Acer comes equipped with a gorgeous 15.6-inch full-HD IPS display, full-size keyboard, a decent battery life (up to 12 hours), and an improved aluminium design, making it thinner and lighter than previous generation models. As for pricing and availability, the new Acer Chromebook 15 will be available in Europe and North American starting October with a starting price of €499 and US$399 (approx. Rs. 25,500) respectively.
Technically speaking, the new Acer Chromebook 15 features a 15.6-inch full-HD display with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The display screen comes in two variants — touch-screen display (CB515-1HT) and non-touch display (CB515-1H) configurations. The laptop also features an HD webcam that offers a wide 88-degree field of view for making video calls. Under the hood, the notebook is powered by a dual-core Intel Celeron and quad-core Intel Pentium processors, depending on user’s choice. In terms of memory, the new Chromebook 15 is backed up by a 4GB/8GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of eMMC storage.
Ports on the Acer Chromebook 15 include two USB Type-C ports, two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, one HDMI port, a combo headphone/speaker jack, and an SD card reader slot (up to 128GB). The connectivity options offered by the laptop include Intel Wireless (802.11ac) with 2×2 MIMO technology and Bluetooth 4.2. Apart from this, the Chromebook 15 also features fanless design for quiet operation and comes with two upward-facing speakers with high-definition audio support. On the battery front, the Acer Chromebook 15 comes packed with a powerful battery, which claims to deliver a long battery life of up to 12 hours. Dimensionally, the notebook measures 378 x 256 x 18.9 mm (W X D X H) and weighs around 1.72 kg.
