Just ahead of the IFA event 2017 in Berlin, Taiwanese computer hardware manufacturer Acer has expanded its product portfolio with the launch of three new exciting devices. These include a Swift 5 ultralight notebook, a Spin 5 convertible notebook and a Switch 7 Black Edition detachable 2-in-1 notebook. The Swift 5 is specially designed for on-the-go users as it offers superb portability, smooth usability as well as a stylish design. The Spin 5 convertible notebook offers a lightweight and fashionable convertible for busy workers, perfect for creating professional-quality content, music, video and games. The Acer Switch 7 Black Edition is designed for immersive entertainment and professional productivity. It is a super-stylish detachable 2-in-1 notebook for the modern professional and also the world’s first fanless 2-in-1 notebook with discrete graphics. All these aforementioned notebooks come equipped with powerful 8th Generation Intel Core processors, more secure authentication process supporting Windows Hello, Windows 10 OS, and Dolby Audio Premium technology with Acer’s TrueHarmony for powerful and clear audio.

As for pricing and availability, the new Acer Swift 5 will be available in Europe from December and in North America from December with a starting price of €1099 and US$999 (approx. Rs. 63,900) respectively. The Acer Spin 5 will be available in Europe from September with a starting price of €899 and €999 for the 13-inch and 15-inch models respectively. In North America, it will be available from September with both the 13-inch and 15-inch models starting at US$799 (approx. Rs. 51,170). On the other hand, the Acer Switch 7 Black Edition will be available in Europe from December and in North America from December with a starting price of €1,999 and US$1,699 respectively (approx. Rs. 1,08,800).

Acer Swift 5 Specifications and Features:

Starting with the Acer Swift 5 specifications, the Acer Swift 5 comes with a 14-inch full-HD IPS touchscreen display with a screen resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The top and bottom covers of the notebook are made of ultra-light magnesium-lithium alloys, while the palm rest is made of magnesium-aluminium. The ultra-light chassis weighs less than 1 kg making it an ideal device for people always on the go. Under the hood, the notebook is powered by the 8th Generation Intel Core processors coupled with up to 8GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 512GB SATA or optional 256GB solid-state drive (SSD) for faster data access speeds and boot-up times. The Acer Swift 5 also features Dolby Audio Premium with company’s proprietary TrueHarmony technology, which provides smooth, rich, and crystal-clear sound experience to users in music, movies, and even gaming. Talking about its software fronts, the Acer Swift 5 runs on Windows 10 64-bit version and comes packed with a fingerprint sensor for biometric login. The notebook also comes with a full-sized backlit keyboard and a powerful battery pack, which claims to deliver a long battery life of up to 8 hours. For connectivity, the device includes Wi-Fi (802.11ac) with 2×2 MIMO technology and Bluetooth.

Acer Spin 5 Specifications and Features:

Moving on to the Acer Spin 5 convertible laptop, the notebook comes in two variants based on its display sizes: 13-inch model and 15-inch model. The key highlight of the Acer Spin 5 is its 360-degree rotatable hinge, that allows users to use their notebook in a variety of different positions. The laptop can be used as a lightweight tablet, a traditional laptop, positioned as a tent or propped up like a stand. The 13-inch Acer Spin 5 weighs 1.5kg and measures in at 15.9mm thin, while the 15-inch Acer Spin 5 model measures 17.9mm thin and weighs around 2kg. Technically speaking, both the comes equipped with touch-sensitive full-HD display with Acer’s Active Stylus support.

Under the hood, the notebook is powered by the same 8th Generation Intel Core processors (Kaby Lake-R CPUs) coupled with up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM and a discrete NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics option for the 15-inch model to handle the intensive creative productions like graphic design and video editing. The Acer Spin 5 integrates four array microphones combined with far-field voice-recognition technology that allows users to access Cortana from up to four meters away. The Acer Spin 5 also comes with two front-facing speakers tuned by Dolby Audio Premium and company’s TrueHarmony technology, which provides powerful and crystal-clear sound experience to users in music, movies, and even gaming.

Switch 7 Black Edition Specifications and Features:

Lastly, the Acer Switch 7 Black Edition, it is the world’s first fanless 2-in-1 notebook that comes engineered with Acer’s innovative Dual LiquidLoop fanless cooling technology for the device’s thermal solution. The Switch 7 Black Edition sports a lightweight design with a sturdy brushed-aluminium body, which provides a robust feel and beautiful tactile touch. It weighs less than 1.15 kg. The Switch 7 Black Edition flaunts a 13.5-inch sharp display with a screen resolution of 2256 x 1504 pixels and offers a pixel density of 201 ppi. Under the hood, the device is powered by the 8th Generation Intel Core i7 processor and NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphics.

The Acer Switch 7 also comes with an embedded stylus powered by Wacom EMR technology that features 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity. Apart from this, the notebook has an optical-based under-glass fingerprint sensor for one-touch login and biometric authentication process. The Switch 7 Black Edition is company’s first device to come with Acer AutoStand, which is a kickstand that can be automatically deployed and retracted, providing single-handed operation as simple as opening and adjusting the screen on a clamshell laptop.
