The Indian arm of the British premium automobile manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) India on Friday expanded its popular F-type line-up with the launch of a new flagship sports car, called the “Jaguar F-Type SVR” in the Indian auto market with a starting price of Rs. 2.45 crore (Ex-showroom). The Jaguar F-Type SVR will be developed and made by Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) team to deliver a dynamic driving experience. The Jaguar F-Type SVR comes in two variants: Jaguar F-Type SVR Coupe and Jaguar F-Type SVR Convertible.

Both the variants come equipped with advanced features such as lightweight titanium and Inconel exhaust system which has helped reduce the weight of the vehicles by 16 kg. In addition, the 20-inch forged aluminium wheels save some extra weight too on the cars. To recall, the F-Type SVR was first unveiled at the 86th Geneva International Motor Show in the month of March 2016. As far as specifications are concerned, the Jaguar F-Type SVR Coupe variant has been launched in the country with a price tag of Rs. 2.45 crore, while the Jaguar F-Type SVR Convertible variant has been priced at Rs. 2.63 crore (all prices are mentioned Ex-showroom, Pan India).

Talking about its mechanical department, the F-Type SVR is powered by a 5.0-litre V8 supercharged engine that generates 575 bhp of peak power at 6,500rpm against the peak torque of 700 Nm at 3,500rpm. The supercharged engine has been further retuned by JLR’s Special Vehicle division to increase its power and performance. So, the F-Type SVR variant offers 25 bhp more power and 20Nm torque more than the standard the F-Type R model. The engine comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission that transmits power to all the four wheels via its four-wheel-drive system with Electronic Active Differential.

On the other hand, the F-Type SVR Convertible needs the same time to reach 0-100kmph from engine start and has an electronically restricted top speed of 314km per hour. The Convertible trim weighs in at about 1,720 kg, while the Coupe trim is marginally lighter than the Convertible as the Coupe trim weighs about 1,705 kg.

As we mentioned, both variants are equipped with lightweight titanium and Inconel exhaust system that reduced the weight of the vehicles by 16 kg. Apart from this, the F-Type SVR sports an aggressive front with larger air intakes and a new splitter. The cars also get a carbon fibre rear aerodynamic wing, 20-inch forged alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tires, carbon ceramic brakes, ventilated hood, and a large rear spoiler. Inside the cabin, the F-Type SVR features SVR performance seats, heated SVR leather steering wheel with aluminium gearshift paddles. Besides this, the vehicles also come with Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS), Touch Pro for entertainment, 380W Meridian Sound System with 10 speakers, and navigation Pro.

In the Indian market, the F-Type SVR Coupe will compete against the likes of Porsche 911 Turbo S & Turbo S Cabriolet, Mercedes-Benz AMG GT R and Nissan GT-R.
