The much talked about Tejas Express, flagged off by Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Monday ended its first journey at Mumbai CST in an absolute disgraceful state.

The Mumbai-Goa Tejas Superfast Express maiden run on Monday has left Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu understandably annoyed and the Railway officials upset, as the maintenance staff reported that several headphones were stolen from the train during its very first maiden journey.
“The headphones were distributed just after the journey commenced. There wasn’t an announcement to return the headphones because we expected passengers to not carry them away, just like they don’t take away pillows and blankets,” a railway official said.
A passenger said that some people tried to remove the LCD screen by pulling on its hinges while others did not flush the toilet after using it, because of which the toilet began to stink an hour after the journey had begun.
According to the maintenance staff the floor was littered with cups, wrappers, bottles and the toilets had also been soiled
Tejas Express is India’s first high-speed semi-luxurious train. Tejas Express is hailed as an “aeroplane moving on the ground” by the Central Railway’s top brass.
Praised as a flight on the rails, the Tejas Express was an experiment to boost tourism. If successful, the train will run on more routes in the future.
Coaches in Tejas Express are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and modern amenities like Bio-vacuum toilets, water level indicators, tap sensors, hand dryers, integrated braille displays, LED TV for each passenger with phone sockets, local cuisine, celebrity chef menu, WiFi, tea and coffee vending machines, magazines, snack tables, CCTV cameras, fire & smoke detection and suppression system.
Tejas Express is capable of running at 200 kmph, the train covers the 552-km Mumbai-Goa journey within nine hours.
The duty of the government is to provide people with the best services and facilities,however it is also the basic civic duty of the people to treat those public services and facilities with due respect.
The increasing advancement in technology is undoubtedly a means of improving our standard of living. To make use of it ethically is, however, personal responsibility of each individual.
This is exactly not what happened when the Mumbai-Goa Tejas Express ,India’s first high-speed semi-luxurious train,returned to Mumbai after completing its maiden trip.
