Smartron, which is India’s first global technology OEM and IoT (Internet of TronsTM) company, has launched its exclusive Sachin Tendulkar-branded smartphone called srt.phone in India at an event in New Delhi on Wednesday. The god of Cricket, Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, who is Smartron’s strategic shareholder and brand ambassador, unveiled the srt.phone, which is priced starting 12,999 for its 32GB internal storage variant. And the 64GB internal storage option costs Rs 13,999. Smartron srt.phone is exclusively available on the e-commerce website Flipkart.com in Titanium Gray colour option.
There are a number of launch day offers on the Smartron’s new smartphone (srt.phone) including free Sachin Tendulkar backcovers worth Rs 599, one year of t.care extend warranty worth Rs 1,499 and an additional Rs 1,500 off on exchange of an older phone. No cost EMI is also available for srt.phone starts at Rs 1167 per month. Axis Bank Buzz credit card holders get an additional 5% cashback.
The company stepped into the Indian smartphone market almost a year ago with t.phone and t.tablet. Smartron launched its mid-range flagship “t-phone”, in India at a price tag of Rs 24,999. This is the first one from Smartron to be called as the signature smartphone centered around the cricket legend and the phone is designed, engineered and assembled in India.

In terms of design, the srt.phone features a fingerprint sensor placed on the back side, just under the ‘Smartron’ logo that the company claims executes within 0.09 seconds. Talking further about the front design, there are backlit dots representing the capacitive Android navigation buttons below the display screen. And on the head of the display, the 5MP front facing camera, earpiece and the sensors are adjacent to each other. The volume controllers are on the right while the loudspeaker grill is located on the bottom of the device.
In terms of specifications, Smartron srt.phone sports a 5.5 inch IPS LCD full HD display with 401 PPI and covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. The company claims that srt.phone is very sturdy and beats all other smartphones in this category in the fall or drop test. This device is powered by a Snapdragon 652 Octa core processor (ARM Cortex A72 + ARM Cortex A53) clocked at 1.8 GHz + 1.44 GHz alongside Adreno 510 GPU. The srt.phone is backed by 4GB of RAM and comes in two internal storage variants namely 32GB and 64GB with unlimited tcloud storage. On the software fonts, the smartphone runs on the newer Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box with stock Android UI and up-gradable to Android’s next version Android O as per company claim.
In terms of photography, the smartphone features a 13-megapixel rear camera with f2.0 aperture, autofocus, PDAF, BIS Sensor and led flash. The device also sports a 5-megapixel front front-facing camera that comes with a wide angle lens for group selfie.
In terms of Connectivity Options, the Smartron srt.phone supports dual SIM, dual standby using the dual micro SIM slots. Connectivity options also include 4G LTE with VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, GPS/ A-GPS, FM radio, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, 3.5 mm audio jack, OTG, and a USB Type-C for fast charging and data transfer. The sensors on the device include fingerprint sensor, ambient light sensor, accelerometer, proximity sensor, gyroscope and magnetometer. The Smartron srt.phone is backed by a 3,000mAh battery and builds for fast charging. The device supports “Quick Charge 3.0” fast charging technology. The phone measures 153.00 x 77.00 x 8.90 mm and weighs around 155 grams.
