Sakshi Malik, who made made India proud by bringing a Bronze medal in Rio Olympics 2016, has tied a knot with another wrestler Satyawart Kardian on April 2 and they reveal that they first met at 2014 Commonwealth games and then, they got engaged last October and about a week before, they had announced their wedding date..
This ceremony took place in her home town, Rohtak and Sakshi was looking resplendent in Red lehenga, which was beautifully embroidered while, Satyawart choose an olive green sherwani. This wedding proved to be an interesting event even for guests as they welcomed by images and videos of Sakshi’s succesful moments. And especially, footage of her Rio Olympics moment was shown at entrance itself, on a large LCD. The list of guests attending this wedding also included Sushil Kumar, another famous Indian Wrestler.
Satyawart Kardian, also from Rohtak, comes from a wrestling family and is son Arjuna Award recipient Satyan Kadian. Satyawart Kadian competes in 97Kg category. He has won Silver at 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and also a bronze at Asian Championship the same year.
About how the things started between Sakshi and Satyawart, Sukbir Malik, Sakshi’s father said, “They met through various wrestling competitions and are wonderful wrestlers each.” He further spoke, “After Sakshi told us about Satyawart, we found him to be a very nice person and we fixed their marriage. It’s a love-cum-arranged marriage. Hum yehi umeed karte hai ki shaadi hone ke baad mein zyada mehnat karenge bache.”
Wishes have been pouring on the couple since then, sportspersons like Virender Sehwag, Deepa Karmakar, Deepa Malik and Saina Nehwal have taken it to twitter to wish this newly married couple. But the most unique wish came from Sehwag Sehwag, ‘Wish you a very happy married life @saakshiMalik. Couldn’t make it because of IPL camp. Best wishes for a life of joy and no kusti at home’
