The Indian arm of the Czech automobile manufacturer Skoda Auto India on Friday launched a new powerful and fastest variant of its iconic Octavia executive sedan, dubbed as the “Skoda Octavia RS” in the Indian auto market. The Skoda Octavia RS has been launched in the country with a price tag of Rs. 24.62 lakh (Ex-showroom, Pan India). The sporty variant of the regular Octavia now comes equipped with an improved styling, exciting features, advanced infotainment system, and a host of smart and luxury equipment. Skoda India has already started accepting bookings for the Octavia RS sedan against a token amount of Rs. 50,000.  To pre-book the new Octavia RS, prospective customers will have to visit the company’s authorised dealerships across the country. The Skoda Octavia RS will be made available in four exciting body colour options including Candy White, Race Blue, Corrida Red and Steel Grey.  Interestingly, the regular variant of the Octavia is locally manufactured in India, while the Octavia RS has been brought into the country via the CBU (completely built-up unit) route.

Engine & Power:

Talking about its mechanical department, the new Octavia RS is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, TSI turbocharged petrol motor that churns out 230 bhp of peak power @ 5,500-6,200rpm against the peak torque of 350Nm @ 1,500-4,500rpm. Transmission responsibilities on the Octavia RS are performed by a 6-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox that sends the power to the front wheels. The Octavia RS needs only 6.7 seconds to reach 100kmph from engine start and has an electronically restricted top speed of 250km per hour. In terms of fuel efficiency, the Skoda Octavia RS has an ARAI-certified mileage of 14.45 kmpl.

Exterior and Interior Design:

Being a luxury sedan member, the Skoda Octavia RS sports various exciting features on the exterior such as all-LED quad-headlamp setup with sharper Daytime running lights (DRLs), horizontal LED fog lamps and LED tail lamps. In terms of design, the Octavia RS borrows its style and design language from the Octavia standard trim. Basically, it looks very identical to the regular variant. The performance sedan gets a more aggressive body kit which includes redesigned bumpers, steel tip exhausts, tailgate mounted spoiler, side skirts and larger 17-inch alloy wheels. The front fascia of the vehicle is adorned by a blacked-out butterfly grille with the trademark vRS badge, flanked by the all-LED quad-headlamp setup and more aggressive front bumper. The front bumper has been redesigned and now it features a large central air dam. At the rear, the car features a boot spoiler and a chrome tipped twin-trapezoidal exhaust pipe setup along with a reflective strip. The Skoda Octavia RS rides on 17-inch Hawk Anthracite alloy wheels which are shod with 225/45 R17 tyres and features larger brakes with red brake callipers. Dimensionally, the car measures 4,505mm in length, 1,730 mm in width, 1,485 mm in height. It has a standard wheelbase of 2,650 mm and offers a ground clearance of 170 mm.

Talking about its interior, the new Skoda Octavia RS gets 12-way electrically adjustable sports seats with red contrast stitching and vRS insignia on the Alcantara and leather upholstery. The Octavia RS also sports a 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The car also gets MirrorLink technology that allows you to pair a smartphone with the car. Other luxury features offered by the powerful sedan include dual-zone climate control with adjustable rear AC vents, revised instrument console, sunroof, ambient lighting system, a sportier steering wheel with paddle shifters, vRS badges on the steering and gear knob and much more.

Safety Features:

In terms of safety, the Skoda Octavia RS powerful sedan offers various safety features including Nine Airbags (2 up front, curtain & side airbags front and rear), ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution), ESP (Electronic Stability Program), Adaptive Cruise control, Blind Spot Detection, Trailer Assist, DCC (Dynamic Chassis Control), Predictive Pedestrian Protection, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Rear Parking Sensors, Park-Assist System and much more.
