Warner Bros has released the first full trailer for Christopher Nolan’s much-awaited period world war epic Dunkirk. The movie directed by Nolan, tells the story of the miraculous evacuation (code-named Operation Dynamo) of the Allied soldiers from the harbour of Dunkrik, that saved 330,000 lives during WWII in 1940.
Above is the first official look of Dunkirk, which opens with the British soldiers being rained by leaflets dropped by German planes, like a prophetic signal, which is immediately followed by the soldiers being bombarded on the beaches of the port (French port of Dunkirk).
A first official promotional poster for the film was released last week, and the latest trailer reveals more about the Batman director’s take on the infamous WWII battle. In the poster, a soldier (dressed in British army trench coat and fatigues, with helmet in hand and gun on shoulder) stands overlooking the port where the raging battle for life is taking place. The poster of ‘Dunkirk’ has prompted feverish speculation about one of its more recognisable ensemble cast-members.
Dunkirk will be Nolan’s tenth feature film – following the success of Inception, The Dark Knight Trilogy and sci-fi epic Interstellar. The movie(Dunkirk) appears to be more straightforward than Nolan’s recent work and is based on an original screenplay blending a mixture of special IMAX.
“Dunkirk” features a prestigious cast, including Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Fionn Whitehead, Mark Rylance, James D’Arcy and Kenneth Branagh as well as one direction UK pop star Harry Styles in his feature debut. Nolan has brought from regular collaborators, including cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema and composer Hans Zimmer, to help bring it to life.
Warner Bros. will release ‘Dunkirk’ worldwide this summer and set to be released on 19 July in the US and on 21 July in the UK. The film will be released theatrically on IMAX, 70mm, 35mm and digital screens. Until then, we will just have to wait and satisfy our visionary urges through the trailer.
