After launching the Y7 (2017) smartphone in May this year, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei on Wednesday updated its Y series smartphone portfolio with the launch of an another 4G enabled smartphone, “Huawei Y7 Prime” in Hong Kong. Priced at HK$1880 (roughly Rs. 15,500 or $240), the new Huawei Y7 Prime is now available for purchase through Huawei’s official online store, Vmall.com in Silver, Streamer Gold and Grey colour options. The key highlights of the phone are its large IPS display, massive 4000mAh battery, and the latest Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.

In terms of design, the Huawei Y7 Prime comes with a metal unibody design with metal edges, meaning that the device sports a relatively premium build quality. The new Y7 Prime features onscreen navigation buttons and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, located just middle of the device. The fingerprint scanner is claimed to unlock the device just within 0.3 seconds. The volume rockers as well as the power/lock buttons are placed on the right-hand edge of the smartphone and a 3.5mm audio socket is placed on the very top edge of the device. The speaker grilles are seen at the bottom edge of the handset along with a microUSB 2.0 port sitting in the middle.

Huawei Y7 Prime Specifications and Features:

In terms of specifications, the Huawei Y7 Prime sports a 5.5-inch HD IPS display with a screen resolution of 720 × 1280 pixels and a 2.5D curved glass coating on top of the display. The device is powered by a 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 octa-core processor (8 Corex-A53 processors) along with Adreno 505 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the Y7 Prime is backed by a 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. Talking about its software front, Huawei Y7 Prime runs company’s proprietary EMUI 5.1 custom UI skin, based on Google’s latest Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.

In terms of optics, the Huawei Y7 Prime features a 12-megapixel rear camera with an f/2.2 aperture, Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) and LED flash. On the front, Huawei Y7 Prime sports an 8-megapixel camera for making video call and capturing selfies.

In terms of connectivity, the dual-SIM Huawei Y7 Prime offers various connectivity options including dual-SIM dual standby, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n (2.4GHz), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/A-GPS, a 3.5 mm audio jack and a microUSB 2.0 port for charging and data transfer. Sensors on the device include Fingerprint sensor (rear-mounted), Ambient light sensor, Digital Compass, Proximity sensor and Gravity sensor. The new Huawei Y7 Prime is fuelled by a high-density 4000mAh battery which claims to deliver up to 25 hours of talk time and up to 754 hours of standby time. Dimension wise, the handset 153.6 (L) x 76.4 (W) x 8.35 (H) mm and weighs about 165 grams (including battery).
