South Korean handset manufacturer Samsung introduced its affordable mid-range 2017 edition of J series smartphones in Europe last month. Now the company has officially announced a “Pro” variant of its recently launched Galaxy J5 (2017) smartphone, dubbed as the “Galaxy J5 Pro” in Thailand. The Galaxy J5 Pro is essentially an upgraded version of the Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) as the “Pro” variant comes loaded with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.
To recall, the base version of Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) was first launched in Europe with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. As for pricing, the Samsung Galaxy J5 Pro has been launched in Thailand with a price tag of 9,990 Thai Baht (approximately Rs. 19,000). Apart from its memory job, the other specifications are same to same that we have seen in the original Galaxy J5 (2017). Sadly, Samsung has made no official announcements about the pricing details and availability of the Galaxy J5 (2017) Pro variant for other global markets.
In terms of specifications, the Samsung Galaxy J5 Pro sports a 5.2-inch HD AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and a 2.5D cover glass coating on top. The device is powered by a 1.6GHz Exynos 7870 octa-core processor coupled with Mali T830 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the new Galaxy J5 Pro is backed up by a 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 256GB via a micro SD card. Talking about its software front, the Galaxy J5 Pro runs on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system with company’s custom UI skin running on top.
In terms of photography, the Galaxy J5 Pro features a 13-megapixel rear sensor with an f/1.7 aperture, autofocus and an LED flash module. On the front, there is an another 13-megapixel front-facing shooter with an f/1.9 aperture and an LED flash for capturing selfies and video calling even in low light.
Connectivity options on the device include Dual-SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/A-GPS, a 3.5mm audio jack and a microUSB port for charging and data transfer. On the battery front, the Samsung Galaxy J5 Pro comes packed with a 3,000mAh battery and measures 146.3 x 71.3 x 7.9mm. The new Galaxy J5 Pro also features a front-mounted fingerprint scanner, that is housed underneath the physical Home Button of the device.
