Swedish automobile company Volvo on Wednesday updated its ‘Cross Country’ portfolio with the launch of a new V90 Cross Country station wagon model in India at Rs. 60 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). The newest Volvo offering is the third “Cross-Country” variant has been launched by the Swedish car manufacturer in India after the V40 Cross Country and the S60 Cross Country. To recall, the Volvo V90 Cross Country was first unveiled globally in Zurich earlier this year as estate or wagon station. In the Indian market, the Volvo V90 has been launched with a crossover body styling as the fact that the SUVs are quite popular in the country. The Volvo V90 Cross Country will be available in 6 dazzling body colour options – Magic Blue Metallic, Crystal White Metallic, Bright Silver Metallic, Onyx Black Metallic, Osmium Grey Metallic and Havana / Maple Brown Metallic. Like all the other products on sale in the country, the V90 Cross Country is introduced in India as CBU (Completely Built-up Unit).

Engine and Power:

Under the hood, the Volvo V90 Cross Country is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder D5 turbocharged diesel engine that generates 253bhp of peak power against the peak torque of 480 Nm. The twin-turbo D5 motor is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission that transmits power all the four wheels via an All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) system for enhancing the off-roading experience. The new V90 Cross Country offers four driving modes including Eco, Comfort, Dynamic and Rough Road. The Volvo V90 CC needs only 7.5 seconds to reach 100kmph from engine start and has an electronically restricted top speed of 230km per hour.

Exterior & Interior Features:

The Volvo V90 Cross Country borrows its styling and features from the company’s luxury sedan S90. The car is built using the company’s SPA (Scalable Platform Architecture) platform and is based on the same platform as the Volvo S90 sedan. Being a Cross-Country member, the new Volvo V90 sports various exciting features on the exterior that include Thor’s Hammer LED headlamp setup with DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps), 20-inch 10-spoke diamond cut alloy wheels, revamped bumpers with skid plates at both ends, Aluminium brushed roof rails, black plastic cladding all around the lower body, Dual-Integrated tail pipes and the sleek LED Tail Lamps. Dimensionally, the Volvo V90 Cross Country measures 4,938 mm in length, 2,019 mm in width, 1,542 mm in height, 2,941 mm wheelbase and offers a ground clearance of 210 mm.

Inside the cabin, the Volvo V90 Cross Country gets an all-black dashboard, Nappa leather upholstery, panoramic sunroof, a 19-speaker Bowers and Wilkins sound system, steering mounted audio and phone controls, gear shift pedals, speech function, hill descent control, adaptive cruise control, rain sensors, electrically adjustable front seats as well as power operated multi-directional lumbar support, four-zone climate control and a 12.3-inch Sensus touchscreen infotainment system. To offer passengers more comfortable journey, Volvo has also provided a large boot space of 590-litre and can be further extended to 1,526-litre by folding down the second row of seats to adjust heavy and bigger luggage.

Safety Features:

In terms of safety, the Volvo V90 Cross Country offers various safety features including 7 airbags, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution), Emergency Brake Assist (EBS), Intelligent Driver Information System (IDIS), Hill Start Assist, Park Pilot Assist, Collision Mitigation Support (front), Park Assist Cams (front and rear), Lane Keeping Aid and City Safety.
