Actress Blanca Blanco became the focus of many eyeballs when she made her entry in the recently held 75th Golden Globes awards show, on Sunday.
When the actress chose to wear color ‘red’, instead of ‘black’, during the event, many questions were raised and some people even shamed her!
What actually happened was that this year’s Golden Globes had the ‘all-black memo’ for all those who were to attend the awards show, in order to put a gesture of solidarity with the victims of sexual harassment, as part of the #MeToo movement.
But those who were against Blanca Blanco, thought that she just missed that ‘memo thing’ by wearing the red dress, and not a black one!
In reply to the questions raised against her, Blanca Blanco justified and defended her decision for wearing a red dress, saying, “I love red.”
Speaking further, Blanco said, “Wearing red does not mean I am against the movement. I applaud and stand by the courageous actresses that continue to break the cycle of abuse through their actions and fashion style choices. It is one of many factors leading women to a safer place because of their status. I am excited about the Time’s Up movement; true change is long overdue.”
Regarding the shaming of her dress online, Blanco replied:
“It hurts my feelings, but I guess it’s part of being in our industry. We have people who appreciate you and others that don’t. The designer Atria Couture did an amazing job with my dress and I appreciate them for dressing me. Shaming is part of the problem.”
