Annabelle Creation has reportedly been banned in Lebanon, due to ‘religious issues’. The movie was scheduled for a release this weekend but just before that it was pulled-off from theatres in the country. The reason given by the authorities was that the film offended Christian faith.

All the theatres across Lebanon were asked to keep the screening on hold because some of the Christian leaders had issues with the scenes-some specific ones, which have not been disclosed.

At the time of its screening for the Censorship Committee, Catholic Priests, Fr. (Father) Athanasius Shahwan and Fr. Abdu Abu Kasm were present and later Father Shahwan decided that the film should be ‘banned’ due to some scenes showing the nuns being the victims.

Earlier, Lebanon had also banned Warner Bros’s another film, Wonder Woman, but that was due to political reasons. It is the first country in the Middle East to ban Annabelle: Creation.
