With Justice League finally out in theatres now, the film has evoked a bag of mixed responses. Although many are praising the tone of the film and the supposed “improvements” implemented in comparison to the previous ventures in the DCEU franchise, there is quite a debate on the length as well as a sizable portion of the content that has been left off at the editing table in order to maintain its PG-13 rating.
Now, Justice League star Ezra Miller (The Flash/Barry Allen) has revealed how a dialogue that was included in the film eventually underwent a minor alteration. He said, “There’s a line that I miss from the film, that I wish was in there. [Aquaman] throws that thing against the wall in the Batcave, and [Batman’s] original line was–I think now he just says, ‘Hey. Don’t do that.’ But the original line was, ‘Hey. Don’t do that. A lot of my sh*t explodes”.
Ezra Miller further added how he and his co-star Jason Momoa (Aquaman/Arthur Curry) couldn’t help themselves from cracking up on Ben Affleck’s (Batman/Bruce wayne) delivery of the dialogue. As to why the four letter word was not included in the film, Miller stated, “I think, that we only got a certain number of curse words”.
Although the inclusion of the originally intended dialogue would have been more fun to hear and witness, factors such as making the film more kid-friendly without any cuss words and an overall lighthearted tone that can be accessible to all audiences have been given been importance. Whether the dialogue along with the rest of the chopped up content(s) will make it in an Extended or Director’s Cut for Justice League now remains to be seen.
