As fate would go, Gujarat eventually gained on Jaipur to have a dominant win even though the score looks much closer at 29-23. Gujarat Fortunegiants were leading and dominating right from the word go in the beginning of the first half. Jaipur came back in the end of the first half to level at 11-11. Once the 2nd half began, they ran away with points and Jaipur could never catch up with them and finally losing the race.
Chandran Ranjit – The Fidgety Hustler
One of the guys who give you a doubt whether is he always in control with his motions. He is so fidgety and looks restless, so it’s less convincing in the first look. Boy, he is some raider when he hustles and bustles across the box. Defenders are always confused what is next move is going to be which is Ranjit’s positive. He is so live in the box, not a single second goes without becoming an event in itself.
He did score a lot of points at crucial junctures in Gujarat winning the match. He got tackled quite a few times but was never short of spirit and liveliness on the field. The highlight of his play was in the second half, when he scored all out against Jaipur to make it 28-22 killing all hopes for Jaipur fans. That was the moment needed to seal the match in the dying minutes. Well played Ranjit!
Tushar Patil – Tantrum Thrower
One guy who caught the attention of every neutral who saw the match was Tushar from Jaipur.
The way he dodged by jumping over the defenders of Gujarat, left an awe even on ardent Gujarat supporters. It was a sight to behold with the fleet foot and timing of the jump.
He threw his tantrums while raiding and got very crucial points to keep Jaipur in the game. His play in the first half was one of main reasons why they could get leveled at the end of 1st half. To a large scale, he was handicapped and was seen off in the 2nd half by Gujarat. They tackled him thrice successfully to have any impact in the game to keep in check all the time. Nevertheless, he was an energetic and clever raider to watch who uses his maximum potential in a street smart way.
Jasvir – The Nonchalant Raider
One stand alone fact which was visible to everyone was the way in which Jasvir Singh went for a raid. It was the exact opposite of Chandran Ranjit. Jasvir took his own time to get into the box and took time to fix his target in the opposite camp and started moving. He was so nonchalant that the defenders were almost losing interest and ended up thinking there isn’t a play at all in this raids. They got fooled when he woke up like a sleeping monster came to life suddenly in the blink of an eye.
Jasvir was made to look like a fool a couple of times in the middle session of the 2nd half. The way he went slowly across the line turning his back, Gujarat raider started his raid just in time to touch him and get a point each twice like that. Jasvir was so furious he reviewed once and claimed the raider didn’t touch him but failed to prove it and lost the review challenge. Not to forget, his contribution in defending as well when the defenders looked for help. Silly mistakes and to a large extent, lack of match awareness cost the game for the home team resulting in a 23-29 loss.
