After launching the K7i mosquito repellent smartphone in the Indian market last month, South Korean electronics giant LG on Wednesday launched a new entry-level tablet, dubbed as the “LG G Pad F2 8.0” in the US tech market. Carried a price tag of $149.99 (approximately Rs. 9,700), the new LG G Pad F2 8.0 is now already available for purchase in the US via US mobile career Sprint as well as other leading stores across the country in Black colour option. The key highlight of the tablet is its Pogo pins at the back, which can be used to connect the tablet with ‘Plus Pack’. The Plus Pack comes with an additional 4,400mAh battery, a full-size USB port and 2x2W stereo speakers. If you want to buy this Plus Pack along with this tablet, you have to pay extra $79.99 (approximately Rs. 5,150). Sadly, the South Korean vendor has made no official announcements about the pricing details and availability of the LG G Pad F2 8.0 for other markets including India.
Technically speaking, the LG G Pad F2 8.0 comes equipped with an 8-inch WXGA display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. Talking about its power and performance, the digital slate is powered by a 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor clubbed with Mali-T860 GPU to take care the graphics content. In terms of memory, the tablet comes loaded with a 2GB of RAM and 16GB of native storage, which is further expandable up to 2TB via a microSD card. On the software front (OS), the LG G Pad F2 8.0 runs on Google’s Android 7.1 Nougat operating system and company’s proprietary LG UX custom UI skin running on top.
In terms of photography, the tablet features a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, 4x digital Zoom, and full-HD (1080p) video recording support. Talking about its selfie camera, the G Pad F2 8.0 sports a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper for capturing selfies and making video calls. In terms of Connectivity, the LG G Pad F2 8.0 supports 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Hotspot, GPS/A-GPS, Bluetooth 4.2, USB OTG, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a microUSB v2.0 port for charging and other connectivity. On the battery front, the tablet draws its power from a 3,000mAh battery, which is further expandable using an additional 4,400mAh battery (G Pad Pack Plus), bringing the total capacity to 7,400mAh. Dimensionally, the tablet measures 215.9 x 127 x 7.87 mm (W x H x D) and weighs 350 grams.
