After a series of many leaks and revelations, the Lenovo-owned Motorola on Monday officially announced the launch of most awaited and talked mid-range smartphones – the Moto E4 and Moto E4 Plus in a blog post on company’s official website. The Moto E4 and Moto E4 Plus are lower mid-range smartphones that basically aimed mainstream smartphone buyers in developing markets. According to the company, Moto E4 and Moto E4 Plus will hit various countries across America, Europe and Asia Pacific beginning this month.

Design:

In terms of design, Both the smartphones have a sophisticated metal finish and fingerprint sensor on the capsule-sized physical home button too. Moto E4 is very identical to the Moto E4 Plus with respect to design. The volume rockers as well as the power/lock buttons are placed on the right-hand edge of the devices and a 3.5mm audio jack is placed on the very top of the phone. Both the devices sports front LED flash that is placed on the top panel of the display, while the real panel of the devices houses a Motorola’s traditional circular camera unit along with a LED flash and a microUSB 2.0 charging port is sitting on the bottom edge of the devices. Both the Moto E4 smartphones feature onscreen navigation buttons.

In terms of specifications, the smaller version of Motorola E4 series, the Moto E4 sports a 5-inch semi-HD with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and 2.5D cover glass coating on top. Moto E4 is powered by a 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 425/427 quad-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Talking about its software front, the Moto E4 runs on Google’s latest Android 7.1 Nougat operating system.

In terms of photography, the Moto E4 features an 8-megapixel rear sensor with 1.12-micron pixels, f/2.2 aperture, auto focus, 71-degree field of view lens, an LED flash, panorama, HDR and 1080p scale video recording. On the front, there is a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter with 1.4-micron pixels, f/2.2 aperture, fixed focus, 74-degree field of view lens, and an LED flash for capturing bright selfies and video calling even in low light.

In terms of connectivity, the Moto E4 is a single-SIM smartphone that accepts Nano-SIM. Motorola might release the dual-SIM card variants of both the models in coming days. Connectivity options also include 4G LTE, voLTE, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, a 3.5mm audio jack and a MicroUSB 2.0 port for charging and data transfer. Sensors on the device include a Proximity sensor, Ambient Light Sensor, Accelerometer, Fingerprint sensor (in some models) and E-compass sensor. The Moto E4 comes packed with a 2800mAh removable battery with 5W/10W rapid charger support. The handset measures at 144.5 x 72 x 9.3mm and weighs 150 grams.

Moto E4 Plus Specifications and Features:

Moving on the bigger version, the Moto E4 Plus sports a huge 5.5-inch HD display a screen resolution of 1280×720 pixels and 2.5D cover glass coating on top. The Moto E4 Plus is powered by a 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 427 quad-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage or 32GB of internal storage. Talking about its software front, the Moto E4 Plus also runs Google’s latest Android 7.1 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box.

In terms of photography, the Moto E4 Plus features a 13-megapixel rear sensor with 1.12-micron pixels, f/2.0 aperture, auto focus, 78-degree field of view lens, an LED flash, panorama, and HDR support. On the front, there is a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter with 1.4-micron pixels, f/2.2 aperture, fixed focus, 74-degree field of view lens, and an LED flash for capturing bright selfies and video calling even in low light.

In terms of connectivity, Moto E4 Plus is also a single-SIM smartphone that accepts Nano-SIM. Apart from this, the phone also offers various connectivity options including 4G LTE, voLTE, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, a 3.5mm audio jack and a MicroUSB 2.0 port for charging and data transfer. Sensors on the device include a Proximity sensor, Ambient Light Sensor, Accelerometer, Fingerprint (front-mounted) and E-compass sensor. The Moto E4 Plus is fuelled by a high- density 5000mAh removable battery with 10W rapid charger support. The device measures 155 x 77.5 x 9.55mm and weighs 181 grams.

Pricing and Availability:

The smaller Moto E4 comes with a price tag of $129.99/€149 (approximately Rs. 8,400), while the bigger Moto E4 Plus with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage variant is priced at $179.99 / €199 (around Rs 11,600). The Moto E4 comes in Licorice Black and Fine Gold body colour options, while the Moto E4 Plus will be available in Iron Gray and Fine Gold colour options. Both the Amazon Prime exclusive smartphones will be available starting this month across various countries. At the moment, the Moto E4 and E4 Plus are the most budget-oriented smartphones from Motorola and will compete against other budget-friendly smartphones in India, although the availability of the devices in India is still unknown.
