Chinese smartphone maker Oppo has launched, a mid-range selfie-focused A57 smartphone in India on Tuesday. The Chinese Company, Oppo made the announcement in a tweet on Friday. The new selfie-focused smartphone has been priced at Rs. 14,990 and it will be going on sale in Indian market via all leading offline retail stores and e-commerce websites like Amazon, Flipkart and Snapdeal from February 3.

Oppo had first launched the A57, selfie-focused smartphone in China last November at a price of CNY 1,599, which is approximately Rs 16,000. In China, the A57 is available in Gold and Rose Gold colour variants but in India this smartphone will be available only in Gold colour option.

In terms of design, the Oppo A57 borrows a lot of its characteristics from company’s F1 series (F1s & F1 Plus). The Oppo A57 is clothed in a metal unibody design, featuring a sleek back finish with curved edges. The smartphone’s Home button doubles as fingerprint scanner and one stereo speaker placed in the bottom of the smartphone. The power-key button is placed on the right side of the smartphone and the volume up-down key is placed on the left side. The rear camera lens is placed in the top right corner and front-facing camera lens is fixed on the top left corner. However, the overall design is quite similar to what we have seen on the Oppo’s F1 and F1 plus.

OPPO A57 SPECIFICATIONS

In terms of specifications, the Oppo A57 features a 5.2-inch HD IPS LCD display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution and the smartphone’s display is protected by 2.5D curved glass, coated with Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The dual-SIM smartphone is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor along with an Adreno 505 GPU for graphics.

In terms of RAM and storage, the phone features 3GB of RAM along with 32GB of internal storage, which is further expandable up to 256GB via microSD. On the software front, the Oppo A57 on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box with Oppo’s ColorOS 3.0 skin on top.

In terms of photography, the Oppo A57 houses a 16-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and 1.12nm pixel size and the Oppo’s Beautify 4.0 software for visual enhancements. Apart from that, the smartphone has a 13-megapixel rear camera with an aperture of f/2.2 and PDAF laser focus along with an LED flash module. Other features include palm shutter function that takes a picture after you hold your hand in front of the screen and the new bokeh effect will give your selfies an effortless distinction and offsetting the subject of the photo with a blurry background.

Oppo A57 supports 4G LTE connectivity along with the connectivity options like Bluetooth v4.1, Wi-Fi 2.4GHz 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, GPRS/EDGE, microUSB v2.0, OTG and 3.5mm audio jack. The phone weighs 147 grams and its dimensions are 149.1 x 72.9 x 7.65 mm. The selfie-focused A57 is backed by a powerful 2,900 mAh battery, giving the device just the right weight in the hand and offering excellent video playback time.

A meeting with Sky Li, Oppo VP and Managing Director of International Mobile Business on Oppo A57’s launch, he said, “When we saw the demand for the great 16-megapixel selfie camera on the F1s, we set out to bring that experience to an even wider range of users”. “The A57 brings consumers premium photography and advanced features, like the industry-leading fingerprint reader, that goes well beyond the conventional boundaries for this price segment,” Sky Li last added.
