Soon after launching the Galaxy Tab A (2017) budget tablet in India, South Korean electronics giant Samsung on Wednesday silently launched a new budget-oriented Android smartphone, dubbed as the ‘Samsung Galaxy J2 (2017)’ in the Indian market. Unfortunately, the pricing details and the availability of the new Galaxy J2 (2017) have not been revealed by the company yet. But it will be available for purchase in India pretty soon. Samsung Galaxy J2 (2017) comes in two colour variants including Metallic Gold and Absolute Black. The smartphone is currently listed on the company’s official Indian website, revealing almost all the specifications and features about the smartphone. On the other hand, a Mumbai-based handset retailer, Mahesh Telecom has revealed that the Samsung Galaxy J2 (2017) has been launched in the country with a price tag of Rs. 7,390. Samsung Galaxy J2 (2017) Specifications and Features:
As far as specifications are concerned, the 2017 edition of Galaxy J2 comes equipped with a 4.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. Under the hood, the device is powered by a 1.3GHz Exynos quad-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB by inserting a microSD card. Talking about its software front, the Samsung Galaxy J2 (2017) runs company’s custom UI skin, based on Android operating system (unspecified version).
In terms of optics, the Samsung Galaxy J2 (2017) houses a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus and an LED Flash module. On the front, there is a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter for capturing selfies and making video calls. Connectivity options on the device include dual-SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, USB OTG, a 3.5mm audio jack and a microUSB 2.0 port for charging and data transfer. On the battery front, the Samsung Galaxy J2 (2017) is fuelled by a 2,000mAh removable battery that is rated to offer up to 12 hours of talktime, up to 9 hours of internet browsing and up to 41 hours of music playback time. Apart from these specifications, the smartphone also features Smart Manager for automatic memory management and Ultra Data Saving mode for saving up to 50 percent data. Dimensionally, the handset measures 136.5 x 69 x 8.4mm and weighs 130 grams.
