A still from the release poster of the film

Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi has got a roaring opening in the US-as was expected of it, considering the early predictions. But now, it has officially become the second movie (obviously after its predecessor, The Force Awakens) of all-time, to earn more than $100 million on its opening day, at the domestic box-office!

Star Wars Episode VIII opened in the US, collecting about $104.78 million, on Friday, December 15th.

Though, it’s just somewhat lower than The Force Awakens’s record of $119 million, on the opening day, this is still a record in itself, for The Last Jedi which shows that this historic franchise of Lucasfilm has still got the ‘Force’ to pull the audiences out of their rooms!

And going by the figures of the first day, its probable that the film will be strongly going above $215 million (at minimum), to register the second best domestic opening weekend, being only behind The Force Awakens’s $248 million, back in 2015.

The movie stars Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Carrie Fisher and Adam Driver in the lead roles.
