To recall, Xiaomi was first unveiled its latest device, the Xiaomi Mi 6 with two different variants in China. Along with the standard variant, Xiaomi also announced a ceramic edition of the device, which was reported to go on sale starting May 10, but not happened due to some production issues with the materials used. Now, finally, the company made its decision that the Xiaomi Mi 6 Ceramic Edition with 6GB RAM and 18-karat gold rims around the dual rear cameras, is going on its debut sale in China May 23 (Tuesday) at 10 AM local time. Priced at CNY 2,999 (approximately $435/Rs. 28,000), the ceramic edition will be available exclusively on Xiaomi Mall. Xiaomi believes that the main USPs (unique selling point) of the smartphone are its latest Snapdragon 835 chipset, 6GB of RAM, two 12-megapixel rear sensors and stunning ceramic glass body.

In terms of specifications, like the standard model Xiaomi Mi 6, the Ceramic edition features a 5.15-inch Full HD display with screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The Xiaomi Mi 6 has an integrated blue light filter to adjust blue light emission to reduce eye strain. The Xiaomi Mi 6 comes with a four-sided 3D curved glass design on the front and back with high gloss stainless steel frame in between. The device is powered by a 64 bit Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor clocked at 2.45GHz (10nm process technology) paired with Adreno 540 GPU to handle the graphics. The device is backed by 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB/ 128GB of internal storage. On the software front, Xiaomi Mi 6 runs on Google’s Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system with company’s own MIUI 8 custom skin running on top of the device. Xiaomi Mi 6 is also a splash-resistant phone and sports a fingerprint scanner for biometric security, which embedded just under the display glass cover.
In terms of photography, Xioami Mi 6 comes with dual-rear camera setup with two 12-megapixel sensors. One camera sports a 12-megapixel sensor with wide angle lens and 4-axis Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), while other camera comes with a 12-megapixel with telephoto lens for 2x lossless zoom. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter for video calling and capturing selfies.
In terms of connectivity, Xioami Mi 6 offers 2.2 dual WiFi technology which allows for better and wider connectivity. Connectivity options also include dual-SIM with dual-standby, 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4GHz/5GHz), Wi-Fi Hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, GPS/A-GPS, Stereo speakers, and a USB-Type C port for superfast charging and data transfer. Sensors on the device include Fingerprint (front-mounted), Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Compass, and Proximity sensor. The Xioami Mi 6 is fuelled by a decent non-removable 3350mAh Li-Po battery, paired with MIUI optimisations.
