Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi on Tuesday announced that the company has sold over 1 million (10 lakhs) Redmi 4 smartphone units in India in just one month. In a recent Twitter post, Xiaomi Vice President (Global) and India MD Manu Kumar Jain claimed that the company sold a massive number of Redmi 4 phones in the country just within 30 days since it was launched in the Indian market last month at a starting price of Rs. 6,999. The Tweet reads, ‘#RedmiNote4 broke all records by selling 1M+ units in 1st 45 days, and now #Redmi4 has gone even one step ahead @RedmiIndia @XiaomiIndia.’ This is the second best achievement for Xiaomi as the company previously announced that its another bestselling smartphone, Redmi Note 4 smartphone also achieved a sales record of 1 million units in 45 days of its launch.

To recall, Xiaomi Redmi 4 was launched in India with three different variants based on their internal storage capacity—2GB/16GB, 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB. As for pricing, the 2GB RAM with 16GB of internal storage variant of Xiaomi Redmi 4 is now retailing with a price tag of Rs 6,999, the 3GB RAM along with 32GB internal storage costs Rs. 8,999, while for 4GB RAM with 64GB of internal storage variant, you have to pay Rs 10,999. The smartphone was sold on company’s official online store Mi.com and e-commerce website Amazon India through pre-booking and flash sales every week since its launch time. Interestingly, the Xiaomi Redmi 4 smartphone is now also available for purchase via all leading offline retail stores across the country at a starting price of Rs. 7,499 (Rs. 500 more than its online pricing).

In terms of specifications, dual-SIM (Micro+Nano) Xiaomi Redmi 4 smartphone sports a 5-inch HD 2.5D curved glass display with a screen resolution of 720×1280 pixels. The Redmi 4 is powered by a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 octa-core processor paired with Adreno 505 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the phone is backed by a 2GB / 3GB / 4GB of RAM and 16GB / 32GB / 64GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. Talking about its software fonts, the Xiaomi Redmi 4 runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with company’s MIUI 8 custom skin running on top of the device. The device also comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometric security.
In terms of photography, the Redmi 4 features a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, LED flash, a 5 element lens, real-time filter and 1080p scale video recording. On the front, there’s a 5-megapixel front with f/2.2 aperture for video calls and capturing selfies. The device also features an IR Blaster (infrared sensor) that can be used as a universal remote to control third-party electronics & appliances like set-top boxes, audio consoles, TVs, fans, air conditioners or DVD players.
In terms of connectivity, this Redmi 4 smartphone features a hybrid dual-SIM setup. Connectivity options on the device also include 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB with OTG, GLONASS, a 3.5mm audio jack and a MicroUSB 2.0 port for charging and data transfer. Sensors on the smartphone include Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, E-Compass and Gyroscope sensor. The Redmi 4 comes packed with a powerful 4100 mAh non-removable battery that is rated to deliver up to 18 days of standby time and last for two days under regular usage conditions. The handset measures at 139.3 x 69.9 x 8.65 mm and weighs 150 grams.
